Abstract Three tests were performed to determine the identity of unknown number 34‚ a gram stain‚ citrate utilization test‚ and a urease detection test. These tests are explained in detail‚ and the method of performing the tests is described. The tests showed that the bacterium was gram-negative bacilli that did not utilize citrate‚ and the ability to hydrolyze urea using urease. These results indicate that the identity of unknown number 34 is Proteus mirabilis. Introduction Proteus mirabilis is

denatured sucrase was used as a control. Denatured sucrase was used as a control to determine if a true effect was made on the active sucrase by pH‚ temperature‚ and sucrose‚ or if affect would be seen in both the denatured and active sucrase. 3. Alkaline DNS denatures sucrase. Explain why it is important to denature the enzyme. It is important to determine if pH‚ temperature‚ and sucrose do have a true effect on active sucrase. ease of organization‚ the periodic table also has eight groups organized by color depending on their chemical make-up. Each of the groups in the periodic table has different characteristics. These eight groups are: Noble Gases‚ Alkali metals‚ Alkaline Earth Metals‚ Transition Metals‚ Lanthanide Series‚ Actinide Series‚ Halogens‚ Semimetals‚ Basic Metal and Nonmetals. As stated by Chemicalelements.com‚ "The six noble gases are found in group 18 of the periodic table. All noble gases have the maximum

Introduction Nickel hydroxide has many applications in the positive electrodes of alkaline cells such as nickel cadmium (Ni-Cd)‚ nickel hydrogen (Ni-H2 )‚ nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH)‚ and nickel iron (Ni-Fe) cells [1–3]. stinging nettles we often use household acids and/or alkalis to treat them. Wasp sting venom is alkaline and so its effects can be neutralised with vinegar or acid and this neutralisation then reduces the pain‚ and Bee sting venom is acidic and so its effects can be neutralised with bicarbonate of soda or alkali and this reaction reduces the pain. If you get an acidic sting then Baking soda or other alkaline products such as cucumber‚ parsley‚ celery‚ lettuce or avocado. Take a small amount and rub gently

the environment. The acidity of any solution is determined on the pH scale of 0 to 14. A pH level of 0 to 7 is considered acidic; 7 is neural; and a level above 7 is alkaline. As the pH number decreases‚ acidity increases. Unopened bottled distilled water has a pH of 7‚ so it is neutral. In comparison‚ household ammonia is an alkaline with a pH of 11.5. Milk is slightly acidic with a 6.5 pH‚ and soft drinks‚ which contain phosphoric acid‚ have a 3.1 pH. Although the pH scale may seem straightforward

Selective precipitation of the Barium Magnesium Group Chem 112-004 Abstract The purpose of this experiment is to separate and identify the cations of Ba+‚Sr2+‚Ca2+‚ Mg2+ and NH4+ using differences in solubility and confirming test to identify the unknown solution used in this experiment. In this experiment the methodology used by the group is to perform the tests for both the unknown and the cations (Ba+‚Sr2+‚Ca2+‚ Mg2+ and NH4+) using the known as a control for comparison and identification

Various types of Fuel Cells and their working By : Divykant Vishwakarma 03996404910 EEE 2nd shift S.No. 14 Fuel Cell A fuel cell is a device that converts the chemical energy from a fuel into electricity through a chemical reaction with oxygen or another oxidizing agent. Hydrogen is the most common fuel‚ but hydrocarbons such as natural gas and alcohols like methanol are sometimes used. Fuel cells are different from batteries in that they require a constant source of fuel and oxygen/air

Lesson 3.01: History of the Periodic Table 1. Explain how scientific observations led to the development of‚ and changes to‚ the periodic table. Dmitri Mendeleev- first periodic table‚ organized 63 known elements according to properties‚ organized into rows and columns. He wrote names‚ mass and chemical properties on each. Julius lothar Meyer- independently worked in German ‚ similar to Mendeleev Henry Gwyn Jeffrey’s Moseley: worked with Ernest Rutherford experimented with 38 metals‚ he found that
