The present work investigates the mechanical properties and tribological behavior of Al-B4C composites. Attempts were made to overcome the wetting problem between B4C and liquid aluminium at lower temperatures for promising the mechanical and tribological behaviour of the Al -B4C composites. AA6061-B4C particle reinforced composites were produced through casting route at 850ºC with K2TiF6 added as flux to overcome the wetting problem between B4C and liquid aluminium metal. The Aluminium B4C composite

Introduction Brasses are copper zinc alloys. It is a substitutional alloy. Brass has higher malleability than copper or zinc. In general‚ they have good strength and corrosion resistance‚ although their structure and properties are a function of zinc content. The relatively low melting point of brass (900 to 940°C‚ depending on composition) and its flow characteristics make it a relatively easy material to cast. By varying the proportions of copper and zinc‚ the properties of the brass can

ALLOY STEELS I. A. ALLOYING ELEMENTS Any metallic element added during the making of steel for the purpose of increasing corrosion resistance‚ hardness‚ or strength. The metals used most commonly as alloying elements in stainless steel include chromium‚ nickel‚ and molybdenum. Characteristic of alloying elements Very important elements for alloy steels are manganese‚ nickel‚ chromium‚ molybdenum‚ vanadium‚ tungsten‚ silicon‚ copper‚ cobalt and boron. All commercial steels contain 0‚3-0

Matt R Results & Analysis Part 1: 1.) To determine the density and composition of a penny it must be first weighed on a scale. Find the average mass of multiple pennies from the same year. After weighing it find the volume by placing the pennies into a 50 ml beaker with 15 ml of water. Note the change in volume to obtain the volume of the pennies‚ obtain the average volume‚ and then calculate the density by dividing the mass of the penny by the volume. 2.) To keep measurements accurate and precise

there are growing opportunities for lightweight aluminium alloy automotive body panel materials to compete effectively against traditional steel body panels. As a result‚ there has been significant growth in the use of aluminium alloy body panels‚ particularly in Europe‚ where aluminium alloy panels are now used in more than 2.5 million vehicles each year. According to the European Aluminium Association‚ the market share for aluminium alloy usage in car bonnets is about 18% in Europe‚ 8% in America
