The Bears were well beaten last week when they lost to Mt Albert by 52 – 18. The Lions scored 32 points before the Bears managed to trouble the scorers and quite frankly the Lions looked like they had plenty in reserve. The Bears have a lot of young players in their side and it is that inexperience that has seen them struggle this year as they look to the future. The Tigers have much to play for and it is unlikely they will drop their guard this weekend and should come away with a sound victory

Discuss how effective the two poems are in showing a sense of cultural understanding and/or assimilation. Personally‚ I find Assimilation by Eugene Gloria is more effective than Returning in depicting cultural understanding as a state of recognising and appreciating the culture. In the former‚ the poet focuses on the presence of the “scattered rice beneath the red-painted bench”. Although those rice grains are left-overs from his previous meal‚ the poet still attachs some significance to them‚

To some‚ the ideal body image requires constant transformation whether it is through plastic surgery or artwork such as piercings and tattoos. The body image is perceived as “the picture of our own body which we form in our mind‚ that is to say the way in which the body appears to ourselves”. Even though they share the similar subject of war‚ these conflicting poems are an example of how a theme can be interpreted‚ and written about‚ in completely different ways. While both “Dulce et Decorum Est” and “To Lucasta‚ Going to the Wars” focus around the theme of war‚ Owen’s poem sheds light on the hardships and sufferings that soldiers faced in World War I‚ while Lovelace’s poem focuses on the romantic‚ honorable aspects

Nationalities sought each other out instinctively— like a homing pigeon circling to get its bearings; years and name-places recognised by accents‚ partitioned off at night by memories of hunger and hate. For over two years we loved

he shared with the sans-culottes. His poem "London" is a rare example of a violent‚ revolutionary indictment of both the Establishment and the Industrial revolution. This poem is an indictment and a battle cry. Not only does it present images of human suffering observed on a stroll around London‚ but it also suggests a certain vision of humanity as Blake defended it‚ for example in his Songs of Innocence a few years before (1789). The analysis of the poem will revolve around two aspects. First
