In this experiment I will investigate the temperature of 50cm³ of water before and after I have added calcium chloride‚ I will gradually increase the amount of calcium chloride by 1 gram to see if there is a significant change. When Calcium Chloride is mixed with water it performs an exothermic reaction which makes new bonds between the salt (Calcium Chloride) and the water. This will therefore make the solution of the reaction increase in temperature. Exothermic reactions transfer energy

Questions: 1. Why is a conical flask‚ rather than a beaker‚ used in the experiment? – To allow easy mixing of solutions by swirling. 2. Why is the funnel removed from the burette after adding the acid solution? – so that the drops from the funnel will not fall into the burette. 3. In using a burette‚ why is it important to (a) rinse it with a little of the solution it is going to contain? – to remove any residual water and so avoid dilution of the acid solution when it is poured into the burette

Previously‚ Yeoh‚ & Wong (1993) reported the nutritional values of A. gangetica. Ogle et al.‚ 2001 reported the folate composition of A. gangetica. However‚ not much information on the utility of this leafy vegetable has been reported. To the best of our knowledge‚ there is no report on the optimization of polyphenols and their radical scavenging activities from the edible leaves of A. gangetica. Therefore‚ the main aim of this study is to optimize extraction conditions such as EtOH concentration

Experiment #3 Mark A. Bruder 07. T.A. Michael Hall Alkanes: Chlorination Introduction: The purpose of this experiment is to determine the reactivity of hydrogen atoms on a carbon chain using free radical chlorination. In this experiment 1-chlorobutane will be chlorinated with the combination of sulfuryl chloride and ABCN as an initiator to produce the chlorine radicals. The combination of 1-chlorobutane and sulfur chloride will produce four dichlorobutane

Intracellular free calcium levels: Intracellular free calcium levels were estimated according to the method of Luo and Shi (Luo and Shi‚ 2005). Briefly‚ hippocampi were isolated from mice brains and subjected to hippocampal cells isolation as described later. The cells obtained were incubated with Fura-2 AM at 37°C with gentle shaking. The fura-2 loaded suspension was centrifuged for 10 minutes‚ pellet was washed once with Ca2+-free buffer and was centrifuged again. Aliquots of the washed suspension

Introduction: A balanced chemical equation has reactants and product that has to represent a formulae. The amount of each element‚ number needs to be the same in either side of the equation. (E.g.‚ HCl(aq)+NaHCO3(s) reacts to produce NaCl(aq)+H2O(I)+CO2(g)‚ this is the equation given for this lab). This help us view the study of Law of Conservation of Mass‚ when either side of equation is equally balanced. The calculation for formula mass helps determine if you need to convert grams to a particular
