Gathering Blue I am doing a book review on Gathering Blue by the author Lois Lowry. This book all in all is pretty good‚ just some parts can be difficult to grasp at once. This books plot is mainly about this girl that has deformed leg‚ twisted‚ she is now an orphan. Her father died at war before she was even born. At the beginning of the story the mother dies of illness. This book isn’t predictable and is consistent for the most part. I think that it is very believable‚ just a little less advanced

My book Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry was about a girl named Kira who lives in community where things are very weird. Kira had just become an orphan recently when her mother died of the flu. Since her mother died of the flu they had to burn down Kira’s house. Kira came to the grounds where her house was‚ and started to rebuild when a large women comes in and tells her she doesn’t own this space any more because her mother is dead and with Kira’s messed up leg she is useless‚ so they are taking her

The Giver by Lois Lowry illuminates the theme that individuality is important considering how different people have various beliefs that can advance society. If only a few people control over an entire community‚ it will remain stagnant with little to no change. The Committee of Elders made decisions and not the people themselves. For example‚ everyone in the community passively accepted all the rules‚ never questioning the reasons behind them. Jonas’s father was confronted with the task of releasing

Learning off of the memories he inherited‚ Jonas realizes that he must leave the community to save those he loves and those he wants to protect. This is a great book written by Lois Lowry. the way we live just a little bit we get a society‚ which can be almost perfectly described as the one in “The Giver”. In Lois Lowry’s “The Giver”‚ the author portrays a society in which there is absolute control of the choices made by the citizens. Lowry describes how this community is under the control of an utilitarian type of government that controls what jobs the citizens will have‚ what foods they will eat‚ how many children they will have‚ the extent of language they will use and most of all

In the novel The Giver by Lois Lowry‚ twelve year old Jonas states that a community with love would be a "dangerous way to live." Well to think about this‚ you must first answer the question‚ What would be a secure place to live? When we think of invulnerability‚ many of us consider our families‚ friends‚ and loved ones. There is that word again; love. Love is kind‚ warm‚ and healthy‚ but sometimes it can be considered dangerous. For example‚ if you are in love with someone who does not have feelings

Giver by Lois Lowry‚ Jonas learns that those who don’t take risks will never grow‚ without memories knowledge is useless‚ and that he needs to be true to what he believes in. Throughout the book‚ Jonas learns that those who don’t take risks will never grow. As Jonas got more and more memories‚ he realized that he had to do something drastic to change what his community took away. For example‚ when Jonas was about to escape‚ it says “And he had taken Gabriel‚ too.” (Lowry 166). Jonas knew

Book analysis: The Giver Lois Lowry was born on March 20th‚ 1937. Her father was a military officer so she grew up all over the world. She graduated the University of Maine and finally began to write professionally which she had dreamed of doing since she was a child. Her books vary in style and content but she says that they deal with the same general theme: the importance of human connections. The main theme of The Giver is The Importance of Memory. Lois Lowry got the idea to write this book after

by Lois Lowry‚ depicts a dystopian society that a child named Jonas lives in. This society shares many similarities with modern society‚ but is also very different. Family units in the society featured in The Giver are extremely strict. This is shown on page 8 of The Giver‚ when Lowry states “Two children - one male‚ one female - to each family unit.” (Lois Lowry 8) Furthermore‚ each family member must share the events and feelings of their day‚ and their dreams of the previous night. Lowry shows

This rule described in Jonas’s community in Lois Lowry’s The Giver may sound unusual to us. But climate control exists all around the world today. After reading The Giver by Lois Lowry‚ most people would think that controlling the climate is bad and destroys the earth. But on the other hand‚ it is very successful and happens globally today
