The song that I chose to listen to was “Hound Dog” by Big Mama Thornton and the cover by Elvis Presley. This is a very popular song and I’ve known it for a long time (as it was in the Disney movie Lilo and Stitch)‚ yet I didn’t know until I was reading the textbook this week that Elvis Presley was not the original performer of this song. I really enjoyed listening to Big Mama Thornton sing it. She has a very deep‚ rich voice. I like that she sang it more smoothly‚ kind of legato‚ than Elvis Presley

Darcy and Wickham‚ Lydia and Caroline are much revealed through their actions‚ while Collins and Lydia are revealed through their letters. A direct comment is sometimes added. The mean understanding of Mrs. Bennet and the sarcastic humour of Mr. Bennet have already been revealed in their dialogues before the direct comment of the novelist. Similarly before she tells us about Mr. Collins‚ we have already

Character is what you are in the dark The evangelist and publisher Dwight Lyman Moody once said that ‘Character is what you are in the Dark’. Simple as it is‚ this quote has a deeper meaning. The darkness may be interpreted as either isolation or danger. It‚ therefore‚ means that the actual nature of a person is revealed when they are alone or in a dangerous situation. It is a quote brought to life through the character of Hans Huberman in Markus Zusak’s ‘The Book Thief’ (Zusak‚ 45). The book is

Without effective characterization‚ readers aren’t able to receive a vivid image of the characters in the novel. Characterization also helps people get engaged with the novel. In MacBeth‚ Shakespeare uses characterization to stress that like MacDuff‚ a good leader puts their citizens first. Even though at the beginning of the play MacBeth was considered honorable and brave in the war‚ throughout the story his actions immersed him in unbearable guilt and caused him to be self-absorbed in power. MacBeth said himself that “Things bad begun make strong themselves by ill” (Shakespeare III.ii 55). MacBeth knows murdering his way to status was morally wrong‚ but he cannot stop
