In William Golding’s‚ ‘Lord of the Flies’ there is a constant leadership struggle between Ralph and Jack. Ralph has proven himself to be the better leader of the two‚ by keeping his focus on keeping the signal fire going and building shelter‚ and maintaining some type of society and rule. Jack’s leadership style was militaristic‚ making others follow him by making them fear him. He was much more preoccupied with hunting and “The Beast” rather than getting rescued. The first example of contrast in

cattle?       Only the monstrous anger of the guns.        Only the stuttering rifles’ rapid rattle Can patter out their hasty orisons. No mockeries now for them; no prayers nor bells‚       Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs‚— The shrill‚ demented choirs of wailing shells;       And bugles calling for them from sad shires. What candles may be held to speed them all?       Not in the hands of boys‚ but in their eyes Shall shine the holy glimmers of good-byes.       The pallor

further restoration and maintenance began in 1991. Notre-Dame de Paris was among the first buildings in the world to use the flying buttress(arched exterior supports). The building was not originally designed to include the flying buttresses around the choir and nave but after the construction began‚ the thinner walls (popularized in the Gothic style) grew ever higher and stress fractures began to occur as the walls pushed outward. In response‚ the cathedral’s architects built supports around the outside

The book portrays their descent into savagery; left to themselves in a paradisiacal country‚ far from modern civilization‚ the well-educated children regress to a primitive state. At an allegorical level‚ the central theme is the

The Baptist worship observation was a totally new experience for me. It was the first time I was stepping out of my comfort zone and attending a service that was not my normal Sunday Mass celebration at my parish. At first‚ I was a bit worried because it didn’t know what to expect or how to act. However‚ the experience was gratifying. It was not a worship service that appeals to me; however‚ I consider that it can be a positive experience for someone searching for a more modern worship service.

about the beast in the film. The opening montage which sets up the background of the movie was terrific to show the innocence of the boys‚ and to show the audience that it is set during World War II. Showing schoolboys playing cricket and singing in a choir at the start of the film‚ then watching the boys murder one of their own‚ proves how savage the boys have become. Leaving out the scenes when the boy with the mulberry coloured birthmark disappears and when the Lord of the Flies talks to Simon was
