In an open adoption that focuses on keeping the child the center of the relationship between birth parents and adoptive parents‚ it’s important to start with a close and trusting give and take between all parties. It’s a unique balance with mutual respect and a common love for the child allows both birth parents and adoptive parents to recognize and enjoy their separate and distinct roles. “The Open Boat” by Stephen Crane is an excellent example of literary naturalism. Naturalism‚ according to Dr. doCarmo‚ is an extension of realism in which‚ “human beings are at the mercy of uncontrollable larger forces that originate both within them and outside them.” In other words‚ nature is cruel and apathetic‚ the universe seems chaotic‚ a protagonist looks to outside forces and signs to explain their problems‚ and man is a small and seemingly helpless character in the universe. “The Open Boat”

“Protecting Freedom of Expression on the Campus”             In Derek Bok’s article‚ “Protecting Freedom of Expression on the Campus”‚ Bok writes about what has been a long-lasting controversial issue in the United States: freedom of speech and expression. The author claims that though the acts are “insensitive and unwise‚” they are permitted‚ and lawfully so. Acts of expression are committed on a day-to-day basis and in a broad aspect of environments; some are offensive while others are not. Who

“Like the Sun” and “The Open Window” are two both very similar yet different stories. “Like the Sun” happens to be about truth‚ and its effects while “The Open Window” is based around deception. Both authors do a great job at setting examples of paradoxes and irony in their stories. In “Like the Sun” Sekhar‚ the main character repeats multiple times “Truth is like the sun.” I understood this as saying without truth‚ you can’t grow‚ like living things can’t survive without sun. One example of irony

The Open Window and Charles‚ both show how children can use their imagination to empower adults. The children in the stories used their advantage to convince the adults into believing something that wasn’t true. The adults seemed so unobservant and unconcerned to what was really happening around them. The kids knew that it would be easy to get the adults to believe them‚ even though they knew it was wrong. These two stories were both written about‚ in my opinion‚ a deception of curiosity. Laurie
