In my essay I am going to compare the two poems “Dulce Et Decorum Est” and “The Charge of the Light Brigade”. These two poems are both about war‚ referring to WWI but from two different viewpoints and experiences. In both people die but in both the acceptance of death is different. These are two great poems that show how differently war was looked at and how differently war is still looked upon today. The difference between the two most importantly is the viewpoints of both. In “Dulce Et Decorum Est”

Conflict can be portrayed in many different ways‚ some of which are light hearted‚ and some that are not so cheerful. We are able to see examples of this all around us in everyday life‚ but in my opinion some of the most interesting cases are found within novels‚ plays and poems. The play ‘Romeo & Juliet’ in itself could be considered as a connotation of conflict‚ showing not only the general day to day disputes‚ but the intense and aggressive types of conflict that we can be faced with. It gives us a very negative horrific view of war‚ and is definitely a very anti-war poem. The poem “The Charge of the Light Brigade” by Alfred Lord Tennyson however‚ is very pro-war with far more focus being put on the heroism and bravery of the men at war‚ rather than the death and horror of war‚ and as a result‚ gives us an almost romantic view of war. “The soldier”

How does Tennyson present war in the charge of the light brigade? Tennyson shows that war claims many lives and not many survive it or come out uninjured. ‘Back from the mouth of hell‚ all that was left of them‚ left of the six hundred’ this implies that escaping war alive is very hard and not everyone survives. The phrase ‘mouth of hell’ illustrates how hard it is to escape because once you die there is no coming back to life‚ and when you die you go to hell‚ but Tennyson is implying that
