The two poems I have chosen to compare are The Daffodils and Darkling Thrush. Both poems are about nature and convey the poet’s feelings about nature. William Wordsworth the poet of The Daffodils talks about flowers and has a happy and joyous feeling throughout meanwhile Thomas Hardy talks about a bird and the landscape and has a cold‚ sad tone‚ showing that he is envious against nature. They both show how nature can unexpectedly cheer you up. Both poems contain four stanzas

William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge spearheaded a philosophical writing movement in England in the late 18th and early 19th century. Although Wordsworth and S.T. Coleridge are often considered the fathers of the English Romantic movement‚ their collective theologies and philosophies were often criticized but rarely taken serious by the pair of writers due to their illustrious prestige as poets. The combined effort in the Lyrical Ballads catapulted their names into the mainstream of writers

journeys in nature‚ whereas Wordsworth describes his emotions by comparing them to nature. The two authors have expressed their relationships with nature by vividly describing their emotions and their environment giving the reader the ability to envision the text. “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” is a very descriptive poem about nature and how it connects to his feelings‚ which allows the readers to imagine what he is feeling through nature. In “I Wandered Lonely as a cloud Wordsworth states directly how

world. This poem really speaks to me. I am very stubborn‚ and I am not easily discouraged or put down by anything in life. The poem Invictus is a poem with a very strong message to those going through tough times or difficult tasks. The word Invictus means unconquerable in Latin‚ and as the title really sums up the meaning of the poem. The poem to me seems to be saying that I will be the unmovable object struggling against an unstoppable force. In the first stanza of Invictus‚ William Henley speaks

The use of children is a prominent theme in William Blake’s poems. He sees the world through the eyes of a child and embraces the innocence of the young. He illustrates this style in poems such as "the lamb"‚ "the little black boy"‚ and "the chimney sweeper". The lamb really illustrates the innocence and purity of a young child. The boy questions the lamb as to where it came from and he expects the lamb to answer back‚ but it is obvious to the reader that the lamb cannot talk. As the boy receives

Williams became known for his imagist works such as “The Red Wheelbarrow” and “This is Just to Say‚” both of which are forms of imagism but in far different ways. romanticism the first generation are William Blake‚ William Wordsworth‚ P. Coleridge‚ Robert Burns. And the second generation is Shelley‚ Keats‚ and Byron. Wordsworth is the most famous of the romantic poets and his most productive years took only ten years although he had lived 80 years. He was a great supporter of French Revolution. The main differences between Coleringe and Wordsworth is that Coleridge believes in education and was fond of reading whereas Wordsworth believes in the education of nature

Individualism was a common theme during the Transcendental period in American literature. The poem that I like the best was “Danse Russe” by William Carlos Williams. William Carlos Williams among other poets wrote poems during this period on subjects such as relationships‚ family‚ ancestors and home life. In this period each poet writes about their relationships‚ family‚ ancestors and home life‚ which makes this period of poetry very individualistic and very personal. Each poet of this period tries

common theme within Catullus’ poems in the subject of Lesbia. While most of these are love poems‚ the first mention of Lesbia in Catullus’ poems is not of Lesbia herself. Instead‚ the poem focuses upon her sparrow. The reason that Catullus chooses the theme of his first few poems to be about Lesbia’s sparrow is because he does not want to focus on Lesbia herself. Instead‚ he wishes to focus upon the narrator’s relationship with Lesbia. The first mention of Lesbia is within Catullus’ second poem. The
