One observation that I made in this weeks readings is the different emotional charge behind male characters towards towards female characters. In "The jilting of Granny Weatherall"‚ Katherine Anne Porter develops Dr. Harry as a man who’s emotions towards Granny Weatherall come out of sympathy for her misfortune as she drifts away in her hospital bed.
