WTBS Formation and Transition WTBS is a media company which developed from WTCG which was owned by a shrewd businessman and philanthropist Ted Turner in 1979. It underwent a series of stages before being branded WTBS. Ted turner was responsible for managing his father’s billboard business and owned several radio stations in Atlanta Georgia.
