I think the character of Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games is very outgoing. She knows what she wants and goes after it. Effie cares a lot about fashion and always tries to make herself look perfect. She believes that she has to be perfect. Sometimes she is obnoxiously cheerful and extremely positive. Effie does what she is told to do by the President and she tries to turn bad things into good. Even though Effie seems self-centered‚ she really does care about other people and their needs.

Throughout The Great Gatsby‚ the main three female characters are presented to be Daisy Buchanan‚ Jordan Baker and Myrtle Wilson; although these women have different qualities and in some ways different lives‚ they could be seen to all conform to the patriarchal norms of society at the time with the men with which they interact and fall in love‚ or lust‚ in one way or another‚ for each different part of society they live in. In the novel there are‚ however‚ exceptions to this. Daisy and Jordan Baker

“It is a truth universally acknowledged‚ that a single man in possession of a good fortune‚ must be in want of a wife.”(Pride and Prejudice 1.1-2). Simply put‚ marriage is an agreement between two people to be joined together for the rest of their lives‚ but as shown in two passages from novels‚ Pride and Prejudice with Mr. Collin’s proposal along with Our Mutual Friend and Mr. Headstone’s proposal‚ there can always be added twists and turns to each marriage. Views on Marriage The Importance of Being Earnest is a comical drama using multiple types of irony to ridicule marriage‚ death‚ and birth. In the Victorian age‚ family was a major influence in choosing one’s offspring’s mate. Lady Bracknell accepted all Jack’s characteristics except the fact‚ he had inconsiderate parents. “To lose one parent‚ Mr.Worthing‚ may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness (1.1.1421). In The Odd Women‚ I enjoyed the concept of female empowerment especially with Miss Nunn and Miss Barefoot who believe that women are successful even if they are not in a marriage. I find it interesting that the men are wanting a relationship as the men are unable to find stability without marriage. I especially see this concept of a man’s need for a relationship in Widdowson. When Widdowson meets Monica‚ he is intrigued and wants to get to know her‚ which he tries setting up multiple ‘dates’‚ which
