Abstract: This report presents the reason why the ocean does not freeze in the winter. Since the ocean consists of salt water‚ an experiment was done to test the effect of freezing on salt water compared to pure water. The experiment was conducted three times in order to obtain accurate results and eliminate errors. In addition to the salt and pure water experiment‚ a variation of this experiment was created to test other options. In the variation experiment the effect of freezing on sugar water

Viet Nam is known that is a center of world’s species diversity with a abundant natural ecosystems like: mangrove forests‚ limestones‚ seas v.v with characteristics of the tropical climates. It is a habitat and development of many endemic wild species valuable‚ some of them can’t be found anywhere else in the world. Viet Nam has many valuable wild genetic resources‚ especially medicinal plants‚ the flowers and tropical plants‚ v.v. Biodiversity in Vietnam is the great value in many different aspects

Open Reading Frames * (ORFs) are regions with no stop codons. All genes reside in long open reading frames * Note that stop codons in other reading frames have no effect on the gene. * Can be searched in the genome sequence. Valid only for prokaryotes and lower eukaryotes. Protein Sequencing vs. DNA sequencing * We compare protein sequences‚ not DNA‚ because protein is more conserved in evolution than DNA * The organism’s survival depends on the protein being

Session #1 Lab 1 OBSERVING BACTERIA AND BLOOD D Haynes BIO-218A Microbiology Lab Friday‚ January 17‚ 5:00pm Objective(s): Our objective is to gain knowledge of the functions and operations of the microscope through observation of bacteria and blood slides that are available for this assignment. We are also learning to “see” and observe various bacteria and their shapes as well as live yogurt cultures‚ blood‚ plaque and cheek swab samples and their arrangements. We

Contributors to Microbiology Pioneers of Microbiology I. Antonie van Leeuwenhoek (Oct. 24‚ 1632- Aug. 30‚ 1723) A. In 1676 Leeuwenhoek saw tiny organisms in water‚ he was the first man to observe and describe bacteria accurately. He discovered microscopic nematodes‚ blood cells and sperm. He also made over 500 microscopes to view specific objects. B. Microbiology is concerned with the study of all forms of life that are too small to be seen with the naked eye. Antonie’s work

Abstract: The Enzyme Lab results where when the liver was frozen‚ its reaction was fast‚ and when it was hot‚ it was slow‚ and the liver that was at room temperature reacted slowly to medium. Introduction: The Enzyme Lab is to conduct investigations to determine the most favorable conditions for the most efficient enzyme activity. Variables to be used testing include temperature‚ pH values and surface area. Enzymes are proteins that speed up the rate of chemical reactions‚ which would otherwise
