The effect of time on enzyme reaction. Abstract: In this lab investigation we will observe how the amount of hydrogen peroxide is affected by catalase over time. The enzyme was added to 10 mL’s of hydrogen peroxide and observed over time to determine the relation between time and enzyme activity. The hypothesis stated that as time increased substrate would decrease. Therefore I predicted that at 60 seconds‚ there would be the least amount of H2O2. The enzyme activity mirrored my predictions

Sterling Hayden AP Biology Mrs. Proehl 24 November 2014 I. Title Effect of Differing pH‚ Temperature‚ and Enzyme Concentration on Catalase Reaction Rate II. Introduction Enzymes are used to increase the rate of specific reactions in the body. Catalase‚ a specific enzyme‚ speeds the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide‚ a toxic chemical produced by cells in the body‚ into water and oxygen (Cain and others‚ 2010). The oxygen can be observed as bubbles coming from the reaction site. Catalase is found in many living tissues of organisms

Enzymes are catalytic proteins that speed up chemical reactions by lowering the activation energy of the reaction. our body cells depend highly on enzymes to complete many important functions‚ such as digestion and metabolism. Enzymes are selective‚ in which each enzyme can only speed up a specific reaction. There are molecules that enzymes work with called substrates. substrate bind to an area of an enzyme called active site. There is specificity between the enzyme and substrate that react with

Abstract: The Enzyme Lab results where when the liver was frozen‚ its reaction was fast‚ and when it was hot‚ it was slow‚ and the liver that was at room temperature reacted slowly to medium. Introduction: The Enzyme Lab is to conduct investigations to determine the most favorable conditions for the most efficient enzyme activity. Variables to be used testing include temperature‚ pH values and surface area. Enzymes are proteins that speed up the rate of chemical reactions‚ which would otherwise

Lab 6: Enzymes . header Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to test for enzyme activity‚ look at enzyme specificity‚ and how temperature affects enzyme activity. Time need to perform this lab: approximately 3 hours Preparation FIRST: Read the lab in its entirety TWICE before you begin. You will perform the experiment‚ write your lab report and include the answers to the additional 4 questions within the text for full credit on this experiment. Materials: •3% hydrogen peroxide •a
Premium Enzyme Water Catalase
Biology Lab: Catalase (Enzymes) Abstract In this laboratory exercise‚ studies of enzyme catalase‚ which accelerates the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. The purpose was to isolate catalase from starch and measure the rate of activity under different conditions. The laboratory was also conducted in association with a second laboratory that measured the effects of an inhibitor on the enzymes. Changes in temperature and pH along with Substrate Concentration and Enzyme Concentration

Ah Seung Chong Molecular Biology CTW: Enzyme Kinetic Dr. Cruz 07/22/2010 Enzyme kinetics Introduction Enzymes are biological catalysts or assistants‚ without enzyme many of important processes of life could not happen. Most of enzymes are proteins that help speed up chemical reactions by lowering amount of activation energy needed for the reaction1. Enzymes are usually highly selective‚ only bind to specific substrate and convert it to product at a particular rate1. The rate of the reaction

Dana Calderone Responses of Enzyme Activity from pH and Concentration Abstract Enzymes are the key to many of the chemical reactions that our bodies depend on to live. Without enzymes‚ we would not exist. These biological catalysts speed up the reactions as well as reduce the amount of activation energy needed to complete the process. Knowing how important enzymes are to us‚ it is important to realize what they require to function. They need select conditions and rates to work right. These conditions

Catalase Enzyme Lab Samiya Hussein March 9‚ 2012 Introduction In order to receive the necessary amounts of energy required for daily function‚ the digestive system must break down proteins‚ fats and carbohydrates. In doing so‚ the body produces poisonous chemicals; however‚ the cells aren’t harmed. This is because enzymes are used to break down these chemicals. The name of the enzyme that was the main focus of the lab is catalase. Catalase is responsible for catalyzing hydrogen peroxide
