CHAPTER 1 Theme: The first discoverers of America‚ the ancestors of the American Indians‚ were small bands of hunters who crossed a temporary land bridge from Siberia and spread across both North and South America. They evolved a great variety of cultures‚ which ranged from the sophisticated urban civilizations in Mexico and Central and South America to the largely semi nomadic societies of North America. Reading Analysis 1 The author?s main point in the book Intersectionality on chapter 4 is‚ noticing systems of oppression and privilege and how they can intersect as well as the social and political views of different categories and through the ways in which it can affect your life. I think it is very important in how we view ourselves and our feelings that are with it. By negatively stereotyping against people of color‚ for example‚ their feelings would be hurt equally as yours. I think that is important

Chapter eight asserts that the birth of the Revolutionary War occurred from 1763 to 1775 because of political values in the colonies‚ British legislation‚ and violent conflicts between the colonies and Britain. After the Seven Years War‚ even though they were the most powerful force in North America‚ Britain was heavily in debt and needed a way to pay for the war they had just fought and won. At the same time‚ the American colonies were enjoying their continent without any French involvement and

I enjoyed this book by Bell Hooks far more than I did Creative Schools by Ken Robinson. I thought this author had a better ability to lay out her thoughts and explain to the reader more efficiently her ideas. The chapters were fifty percent shorter as well‚ which helped the reading feel less drawn out and lengthy. The author did a better job providing examples from her life that related to the subject than Robinson did‚ although they were also rather lengthy. Creative Schools tended to have the examples

Of the two assigned chapters in the Betrothed‚ I found chapter 34 to be the most interesting. Alessandro Manzoni‚ the author of the historical novel‚ begins chapter 34 with the character Renzo trying to find his way into the heavily guarded‚ plague-filled city of Milan in order to find the love of his life‚ his fiancée Lucia. Renzo finally finds his way into the city by paying the guard a half-ducat. However‚ one obstacle that Renzo often encountered in his journey to find Lucia was

into a single human body”. I agree entirely with this statement but rather than a sequence of ‘one is caused by another’ I find that all forces impact each other in an extremely complex web. The exact causal reason for one action or another cannot be determined in such a simplified method. The sequence of impact could be written in any number of ways. For this reason the best way to mitigate the impact of one is to work simultaneously on all. Despite being extremely confusing for those who are not pre-exposed
