The short story “Roberto Clemente: A Bittersweet Memoir” contained a few inspiring and meaningful phrases and sentences. A sentence that was inspiring to me was "’... fact that he was a Puerto Rican and that he was a black man… had pride.’" This sentence is meaningful to me because it relates to me. In Clemente’s case‚ he had received prejudice about his ethnicity and skin color. However‚ he did not let those factors affect him. He kept on moving and persevering‚ and finally achieved what he wanted

Methamphetamines) Nic Sheff D. Williams In Nic Sheff’s appalling memoir‚ "Tweak"‚ he takes you through his many attempts at recovery‚ and the mental and physical hardships he endured. The first time he got drunk was at age 11‚ and in the years that followed his life swirled out of control as his addiction to methamphetamines (along with cocaine and heroin) became more demanding. What I thought really differentiated his memoir from others about addiction was the courage he had to try again‚ after

I remember kids didn’t really like reading much so they didn’t read much. As they got older some of them started to read more. I have read many books over the years but last year I read a book that I loved. Last year I read a book called hope: A memoir of Survival in Cleveland. In Hitchens essay "Why Women Aren’t Funny"‚ published in January 2007 issue of Vanity Fair Magazine‚ Christopher Hitchens asks "why are women not funny?". The nerve of him to have

The memoir‚ Mississippi Solo‚ written by Eddy Harris reveals many things about his character. From what I read from the text I can tell Eddy appreciates life. On page 137 lines 1-2 It states‚ “Too many marvelous days in a row and you begin to get used to it‚ to think that’s the way it’s supposed to be”‚ “ Too many good days‚ too many bad days- you need some break of monotony of one to appreciate the other.” For this reason‚ this quote signifies that Eddy appreciates the good and bad things in life

It has been said that we do not know the true value of our moments until they have undergone the test of memory. In her memoirs Virginia Woolf dwells upon treasured memories of a fishing day in her childhood in the company of her dad and brother. This is not a memory lingering at the back of her mind‚ No. It is one that she vividly contemplates‚ remembering every word‚ every detail. Her use of language effectively conveys the lasting significance of these moments from her past. Woolf’s
