I think that the most influential moment in the 1960’s was the civil rights movement. Early on in our nation’s history blacks have succumbed to slavery and racism; even though President Lincoln "freed" the slaves back during the civil war‚ nothing really had changed until the 60’s. The 1960’s were‚ in my opinion the most influential decade in the history of the world. Some people went from being preppy‚ well-kept human beings to turning into long-haired‚ earth- loving and careless people. When the citizens of today look back at the ‘60s‚ they think of one of the happiest decades their generation has ever seen if not the happiest they’ve ever went through. The “hippies” stressed that everybody be happy‚ calm and find peace through love and tolerance. This means that everybody

And came the statement from the Health Ministry stressing the need for the debate on Section 377 of IPC taking an complete opposite stand from the its previous holder. Now whole India

Secondly‚ because homosexual activities can be proved to be unhealthy‚ the government should not celebrate the action through recognizing same sex marriage. Lastly‚ since the issue of same sex marriage is a controversial public dilemma‚ the

During the 1950’s and 1960’s in America‚ there was racial discrimination and segregation‚ which was legalised through the Jim Crow laws. The Civil Rights movement aim was to challenge these laws and achieve legislative change‚ making the ”X” challenging the racist laws and enforcing equal ones. Civil Rights & Gay Rights Movements “History matters because it repeats itself. If we understand the past‚ we will have a better understanding of what is yet to come.” Any student taking a history class has probably had this statement pounded into their brain. However‚ many wonder how much truth really lies within these words. Comparing the Civil Rights Movement to the Gay Rights Movement proves that this statement contains truth. Although there are a few differences between these movements‚ the concepts

of America. —Lord L. Jean‚ executive director‚ Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center‚ 2000^ The gay rights movement has been an ongoing struggle dating back to the 1920s. Everyone has the right to pursue their happiness no matter what or who may make that
