this poem was the title‚ and how it was written to be read as the first line of the poem. The title also drew me in because I have a connection to the material‚ my father died when I was ten. Not many lines about the speaker’s father draw direct parallels to my father‚ but never the less I was drawn to the work and felt a since of deep melancholy as I read. This since of melancholy‚ even though the speakers father differs from my own‚ is largely due to the non-standard metaphors. What I mean by this

I disagree with your interpretation of the main idea.” Selina said to Austin as they sat on the cement stair in Austin’s backyard‚ discussing about their short story analysis work from English class. The sky was still filled with gray clouds‚ but at least the rain had cooled down the heat of late summer a bit. Selina felt bad for Austin‚ that he was stuck with her for this “working buddies” thing in English. Why would someone stupidly arrive late to class and become my deskmate‚ and then stupidly

In the movie True Colors it was a documentary about two men one white and one black who were doing an experiment in St Louis Missouri in 1991. The two moved into a motel in St Louis and were getting prepared to do the experiment. The experiment was to see how people react to a white person and a black person in different situations. The first situation was at the shopping mall where the two went into a store and as soon has John walked in he got immediate attention from the store manager about if

“Wake up‚” Josie Said to me as she pulled the comforter off of my bed. “Five more minutes‚” I slowly griped. “No‚ we have to get our bags packed‚ today’s the day‚” Said Josie. I got up‚ my bones aching worse than a two day old flu shot‚ and my head spinning quicker than a hurricane. Once I was ready to go downstairs‚ I picked up a blanket lying on the floor‚ I then wrapped it around my half naked body‚ and I walked out of my bedroom and down the stairs I headed. When I go down the never

It was not so long ago when our journey began. For most of us‚ we entered LNHS with nothing more than a dream‚ and today‚ together we stand as survivors armed with knowledge‚ skills and values to bring this dream closer to reality. To others‚ graduation may simply be equated as the end of the tunnel‚ or a breath of relief‚ or an exultation over freedom‚ but after years under the nurture of our alma mater‚ we know it is much more than any of these. Life is an open road‚ and though we’ve studied its

Undying Summer Someone once said that love is the best part of any story and that true love goes beyond the limits of death. That someone was completely right. William Shakespeare is known worldwide as the greatest poet of the English language‚ a title well deserved. He‚ who is the master of the early modern English‚ used the power of love in his writing as the pathway to his eternal life as an author. Even though human bodies cannot live forever‚ their work and their words certainly can. Shakespeare

I was a child‚ an innocent boy who accepted the fact that Santa was greedy‚ and was not going to leave one single cookie‚ not one. Along with that innocent realization‚ came the understanding that hospital visits were not uncommon‚ but in fact‚ a regular occurrence. As a child‚ the hospital environment seemed so artificial to me. Machines‚ wires and tubes stationed at every corner‚ made me think then‚ that no person should have to succumb to such a synthetic life. Especially if that person was my

meaning of the word equal in this sentence of the Declaration of Independence has been controversial. We will never know what Thomas Jefferson meant by equal. Throughout the history of the United States of America‚ all men have not been equal‚ so this is where historians question the word equal. In my point of view‚ I believe the Founding Fathers needed ideas and arguments against the British. They were not talking about the citizens of the colonies. They used the word equal as an argument
