My results are consistent with those‚ conducted by Dr. Antonini who used the same type of welding fume particles (MMAW: manual metal arc welding). However‚ welding fume doses at 10 mg/kg and 20 mg/kg in my experiment were twice and 4 times‚ respectively‚ the dose that was used in Dr. Antonini’s paper [6]. In blood‚ Dr. Antonini found a 1.5-fold increase in Mn levels‚ whereas in my experiment I found an 8-fold increase in blood Mn after the 20 mg/kg dose. Both results are consistent since the 20 mg/kg

BERYLLIUM Beryllium is a hard and brittle alkaline earth metal‚ which is greyish in colour‚ and an excellent thermal and electrical conductor. The melting point of beryllium is 1278°C‚ the boiling point is 2970°C. There is a fine layer of beryllium oxide covering it’s surface so it will not react with water or steam. However‚ it will react with oxygen when heated to around 600°C. Beryllium originally named glucinium‚ which derives from the Greek word “glykys”‚ which means sweet. This

Mini-Report: How Do Scientists Report Data? “Determination of the Empirical Formula of an Unknown Lead Oxide” By: Dr. C. Steven Joiner In this paper‚ they walk through and explain the process known as smelting. The experiment demonstrates the historical process known as smelting and could theoretically be used to determine the empirical formula of other metal oxides found in nature. This paper explains how the process of smelting and how metals can be extracted from their ores. This is because

The Magnesium Oxide Lab In a compound the atoms of different elements are present in numbers whose ratio is usually an integer or a simple fraction. The simplest (or empirical) formula of the compound expresses that ratio. Simplest formulas are determined by establishing the mass of each element present in a sample of the compound. From those masses one finds the number of moles of each element present. The mole ratio is also the atom ratio in the compound and that ratio provides the subscripts

ATOMIC WEIGHT OF MAGNESIUM LAB Introduction The main purpose for this experimental lab is to determine the atomic weight of magnesium‚ as well as an underlying purpose in determining the relationship between moles evolved and consumed. This can be demonstrated by measuring the hydrogen gas evolved by performing a chemical experiment when hydrochloric acid reacts with the magnesium. The formulated reaction includes; Mg + 2HCl → H2 + Mg2+(aq) + 2Cl- (aq) The major findings contributing
