The rain this morning pattered on the rooftop like the joyful tears running off my family’s face before I left. They were proud of me as I was going to fight for my country. I lie awake this morning staring at my name tag which says William Harding Bowyer on the front of it thinking about what was going to happen on my first day of training as a new recruit for the U.S. I want to train so I can become a paratrooper.
