Observation 1 I observed preschool classrooms at St. Vincent’s Catholic School They are a Montessori preschool. The classrooms are clearly laid out for children. The classrooms are prepared and equipped for the size and pace of preschool aged children and are designed to put them at ease by giving them freedom in an environment carefully prepared with attractive materials arranged on low shelves that can be reached by any child. The tables and chairs are moveable

is not important if the child can count on hundred or not or they know how to write the numbers. I believe children hear‚ see and touch more about inquiry activities‚ their brain get stronger and they become smarter. I do counting with children during snack time all the time. If the animal crackers are their snack‚ I will tell them you can have four crackers

I observed from 12-12:35 which was in the middle of lunch so I saw the kids eat lunch‚ play with toys and climb on the rock wall‚ and the beginning of small group activities. SETTING The date of my observation was April 27th‚ 2010. It was about 9:30 in the morning when I began my study. I went to Grossmont College’s Child Development Center. The first thing I began looking for was if the child-teacher ratio was correct. The child ratio was 2 teachers to about every 8 children. The ratio was good. As I entered there was one large room that almost looked as if it could be two rooms they way it was set up. One half consisted of a large bookshelf with numerous

For my fourth observation of Jaelee‚ I was looking to see if she can follow through with one clear‚ simple direction. When I went to her class‚ she was outside playing. She played out in the playground for a while and then Ms. Reta asked the children to line up to go back inside. Ms. Reta had to ask Jaelee once and she got in line; she followed directions so well that Ms. Reta had her get a toy drum and had her hit the drum while screaming line up to the other children. Jaelee really enjoyed helping
