Bacteria: a benefit or a hazard? Bacteria is something we are all reminded of on a daily basis by merely switching on our televisions where we are bombarded with advertisements for both ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria. Contrary to the view of the past when only so-called ‘bad’ bacteria was ever talked about‚ so what has changed? This essay will address the facts about bacteria including methods used in identifying bacteria as well as looking at specific examples of how they can be both helpful and harmful

Observing Stereotypes Through Personal Experiences - Daniel Paulsen After discussing this report with my parents‚ they remembered a time last year when I came home and complained about a group at school. I recall last year around June‚ when I passed a group of friends. All standing in a circle gossiping by the gym. There were five or six - three girls‚ and I think two or three guys. Easily‚ I could tell that two of the guys were in a relationship with two girls because they were holding hands.

Livja Koka Anaerobic Bacteria In this experiment the purpose is to seek understanding between an organism and its use of oxygen. Oxygen is a very important part of the organisms’ survival. Oxygen has a tendency to form very reactive by-products inside a cell. These by-products create havoc by reacting with protein and DNA‚ thus inactivating them. Cells that are able to live in the presence of oxygen have evolved enzymes to cope with H2O2 and O2- and thus are not inhibited by O2. Also many anaerobes

Observing a Limiting Reactant An experiment was carried out to predict the limiting reactant in a chemical reaction between Magnesium and Hydrochloric acid‚ using the mole concept. Limiting Reactant: It is the reactant that will deplete or will be used up first during a chemical reaction. Limiting reactant also determine how long the reaction will last for. Balanced Equation: Mg + 2HCl = MgCl2 + H2 The balanced equation is needed to determine the mole ratio between the two reactants. From

preferred to be outside and thus I had to follow around the child with the sister who was next to me. This caused my notes to be very sloppy and hard to understand. I expected the child to interact a lot more with her parents in the hour that I was observing but the child seemed content to be around her siblings‚ while the parents were gardening. I would prepare myself to expect sudden bursts of activity from the child next time and be more open minded about the area of the observation.
