Through December 5th through the 7th‚ I performed in Thornton Wilder’s play of Our Town. The only sets or props that the actors or actresses used where folding chairs for us to sit in‚ umbrellas to hide Emily (Julie Dumbler)‚ and flats on both sides of the stage to hide the people behind them. The reason for the lack of set is so the audience can use there imagination of what the town of Grover’s Corner‚ New Hampshire looks like. All the rest of the props that the actors had to use were pan mimed

In a brief sum up‚ Our Town is a play based only on imagination. If you don’t have an imagination‚ you’ll be staring at a bare stage because there are few props on stage. It is a play based on life; its shown as how the author sees it‚ relates to it and lives in it. He shows us that we take our lives for granted as we watch two families in the 1900’s. The author is Thornton Wilder. It was written in 1934-1938‚ United States and publishes in 1938 by Coward-McCann‚ Inc. Wilder’s play defies most conventional

Smeltertown is a callus on the border between the United States and Mexico. Once a town full of life‚ a community where no one even bothered to lock their front door‚ Smeltertown is now a ghost town. The town’s rundown condition is very well exemplified in Danny Lyon’s photo titled "Grave marker in Smelter cemetery‚ Asarco Smelter Works‚ in the background. This is the graveyard provided for employees." In the foreground of the photograph‚ is a wooden cross grave marker with the words “Sra Romana

In the short story‚ Our Town‚ by Thornton Wilder narrates the lives of the townspeople of Grover’s Corner‚ specifically two little children. The story begins with the introduction of the lives of two children with very similar families. Later‚ the two children discover their love towards each other‚ but only after death do they realize the true importance of life. Wilder‚ through the use of characterization‚ successfully conveys the message that people do not fully understand the true importance

Between the 1860’s and 1890’s‚ the west of the United States got its name "the Old West" and a reputation of being violent. Now there are many movies‚ books‚ television shows‚ and many other things based on the Old West having: cowboys‚ gunfights‚ rough towns‚ and Indian attacks. Some people may believe that the Old West really was like this‚ but I think the west wasn’t any more violent than other areas of the United States at this time. Less people lived in the west at this time so one murder may

The play‚ “Our Town”‚ as a whole is remarkably interesting‚ the characters‚ the story manger always stopping the story at random times because he feels like that is all the reader needs to know. I really like the metaphor that is being used throughout the play. The morning meaning birth in Act I‚ the wedding that shows how life moves along in Act II‚ and the night meaning death at the end of Act III. There are so many different reasons on why I like the play. From the characters‚ to the setting
