In the poetry of 1914 there is both crude propaganda and poems that are subtle and deeply moving if naïve. The poetry in 1914 had purpose for why they were written. Some were written with the intent of trying to enlist more men for the war because the authors believed that all men should fight for their country. While others were to show everyone that war is not so glorious and there is nothing sweet about fighting for their country. Either way‚ they all used naïve idealism or sometimes crude propaganda

(five metrical feet) and two tri-meter (three metrical feet) lines per stanza. It is written mainly in iambic pentameter and has a rhyming pattern of aabbcddceee. This gives the poem a songlike quality which is associated with this type of lyric poetry. Each stanza is made up of a single sentence which‚ with the help of the meter‚ forces the first four lines of each verse to be read rapidly. The caesura then slows down the reading‚ causing the reader to reflect more deeply on what has been said

While some people may think that an author does not use any sort of elements of poetry to write‚ they actually do use it more than we all know. They tend to exaggerate a lot when writing‚ making things seem “bigger” and more important. They also use metaphors to compare things to other things totally unlike them. They also use rhyming to its full capability to get their points acrossed. They use rhyme schemes in couplets to get their points across. When an author is writing about something

When exploring literature‚ poetry is my favorite to read because my mother’s a published author. Therefore‚ yes before this course I read poetry. As a published author she writes poems‚ which covers a variety of topics such as spiritual‚ military‚ current events‚ and several other items. Therefore‚ I am a little bias when it comes to poetry. However‚ some other reasons I enjoy reading the poem is because it allows me a means to be open minded and examine ways that these poems can alter the environment
