Abstract This paper analyzes the components of the psychoanalytic approach to personality. It explores the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud‚ Carl Jung and Alfred Alder. It compares and contrasts the psychoanalytic theories of Freud‚ Jung and Adler. It describes the stages of Freud’s theory and explain characteristics of personality.
