Synthesis Procedure 1 -1.0 Introduction A Cobalt-Amine-Halide compound is synthesized from cobalt (II) chloride hexahydrate. An orange-tinted solid is produced and is considered to be unknown since the specific ligand amounts are unknown. By determining the percent composition of various elements and compounds in the unknown‚ its true identity can be predicted. Chloride‚ ammonia‚ and cobalt are three examples of percent compositions determined to help narrow the selection of possible unknowns

maintain voltages across their cell membranes and to carry electrical impulses such as nerve impulses and muscle contractions across themselves and to other cells. The major electrolytes that are in our body are as follows: sodium (Na+)‚ potassium (K+)‚ chloride (Cl-)‚ calcium (Ca2+)‚ magnesium (Mg2+)‚ bicarbonate (HCO3-)‚ phosphate (PO42-)‚ sulfate (SO42-). Sodium is an abundant metallic element which is an important mineral for all living organisms. It is also widely used industrially to make an assortment

solution. Mix. Record color change. B. Calcium oxalate equilibrium Put 5 mL of .1 M calcium chloride and 5 mL of .1 M sodium oxalate into 6 inch test tube. Mix by stoppering and inverting. Equilibrium is established by formation of white precipitate. Add concentrated HCl. Shake after each drop. Record any changes. C. Cobalt chloride equilibrium Heat 2 mL of saturated aqueous solution of cobalt chloride to boiling in a 6 inch test tube. Record the color before heating. Now place tube in ice water

of the chloride ion on its rate of diffusion in agar means it will diffuse faster because it is more concentrated. We graphed the diffusion of chloride ions rather than sodium ions because while the sodium ions do diffuse in to the agar the chloride ions from the NaCl will combine with silver ions‚ from AgNO3 and create a white precipitate. The white precipitate allows us to measure the the white band through the agar at different points and determine the rate of diffusion of the chloride ions.

With increasing demand from downstream industries and support from Chinese government‚ Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone production and consumption has been growing rapidly in the past few years‚ and China has become one of most important PVP producers in the world with larger export volume. However‚ affected by global financial crisis‚ most PVP’s downstream industries have witnessed a downturn since late 2008‚ which seriously impacted PVP industry both in domestic and overseas market. How did China’s PVP overcome

Introduction The purpose of this lab was to explore the properties of an unknown compound. An unknown was given and a cation flame test and anion test was performed to determine the identity of the compound. Once the identity was determined‚ the properties were explored. Experimental To determine the cation of the compound‚ a cation flame test was performed. A bunsen burner was lit until a medium blue flame was burning. The given unknown was scooped onto a nichrome wire loop. The wire was held

Salt and Its Uses As we know‚ salt is the most useful resource found on earth. In Ancient Rome‚ salt was used as part of the salary to the soldiers. From this‚ we can see that salt was as valuable as gold in the past. In our daily life‚ besides making nutritious food more palatable‚ salt is very useful in making bakery products‚ canned and frozen foods. Salt is a good preservative that retards the growth of micro-organisms to make food storage possible for a long period of timie
