The city’s diversity has outlasted slavery‚ segregation‚ and racial complications of other sorts. The ancestry of the folks there is so diverse they are often only called “colored”. Members of the city participated in the Underground Railroad before the abolition of slavery. We can learn a lot from Longtown.
