The most admirable character in The Crucible in my opinion was John Proctor. He was admirable because of the way he stood up to his past failures that he had done in his life. He stood up for what was right and didn’t care what the consequences were for his actions. For instance he went and testified to the court to try and free his innocent wife. He also was willing to face the punishment of adultery to help free the innocent. He too was willing to wreak his reputation for the good of the town.

All of these concepts play big parts in the crucible. Abigail is an example of weakness i’d say. After being thrown out of the Proctor household‚ she tries to get back at John’s wife. She gathers up a bunch of girls and they go into the woods‚ she tries voodoo to cast a spell that’d kill his wife. After being caught in the woods she confesses to witchcraft once she see’s that all charges would be dropped‚ and places the blame on others. Which highly escalates the town into growing fearful. Mary was lying then Mary could be hung for false accusations. The central theme is perseverance of courage and integrity over fear. It started by one simple statement made by Elizabeth Proctor that inspires her husband‚ John Proctor‚ and then Mary Warren to speak the truth.
