Abstract :The purpose of the experiment is to explore elastic and inelastic collisions in order to study the conservation of momentum and energy. The guided track‚ carts‚ photogates ‚ 250 g weight and picket fences were the primary components used in the procedural part of the experiment. Each experiment involved the use of the photogates and picket fences to measure the initial and final velocities of both carts when they collide. The data was collected and translated to a graphical model for further

Simple Harmonic Motion Objective The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the different variables describing simple harmonic motion (SHM) using a spring-mass system in vertical oscillation. We measured the position and velocity of the spring-mass system under different conditions in order to extract parameters used to describe SHM such as amplitude‚ frequency‚ and phase. We tested whether the predicted behaviour based on our mathematical model of SHM was cohesive with the observed parameters

Introduction: Aim: To find the relationship between the length of a simple pendulum and the period of oscillation. Research question: How does the string length of the pendulum affect the period of oscillation? Prediction: The longer the string‚ the longer it will take to make one complete oscillation. Variables: Independent variable: Length (L). Dependent variable: Period of oscillation (T). Controlled variable: Mass of the plasticine. Tools & Materials: Stopwatch. Ruler. String. Plasticine

Translational motion Translational motion is the aspect in which a body moves from a specific point to the next. This can be in terms of objects‚ molecules or atoms. This kind of motion normally takes place in a straight line for instance bullet which is fired by a gun. The object in motion does not change by turning on its axis for it travels in a straight line. Any slight change or rotation can cause the object to change direction in general making it not move toward the specified direction.

For Lab 1‚ my partner and I will be demonstrating the law in which connects the period of the pendulum‚ expressed as T‚ to the length of the string‚ expressed a L. The system the lab will be based on will include a pendulum with a weight of W suspended at a fixed point by the string with a variable length of L and an angle theta to be measured using a protractor. The variable T will be measured as the period of time needed for the weight of the pendulum to swing back and forth once. For part 1 of

Kinetic Friction Experiment #13 Joe Solution E01234567 Partner- Jane Answers PHY 221 Lab Instructor- Nathaniel Franklin Wednesday‚ 11 AM-1 PM Lecture Instructor – Dr. Jacobs Abstract The purpose of this experiment was to examine kinetic friction and what factors affect it. We pulled a wood block across a surface to determine whether the surface area of the block or the type of surface affects friction. The surface area did not appear to affect friction‚ since there was a small percent difference

Spokane‚ Washington. Viney and Fenton (1998) defined the term electrophoresis as‚ “the migration of charged particles through a static medium under the action of an applied electric field (p. 576). Just from this definition‚ it is clear that numerous physics concepts can be used to help explain why electrophoresis works. First‚ I will discuss charge and electric fields and how these principles are utilized in gel electrophoresis. This will be followed by a

Is gravity always 9.8m/s2?? INTRODUCTION: A simple pendulum consists of a mass m swinging back and forth along a circular arc at the end of a string of negligible mass. A pendulum is a weight suspended from a pivot so that it can swing freely. Gravity is the pull that two bodies of mass exert on one another. There are several simple experiments that will allow you to calculate the acceleration due to gravity of a falling object. A simple pendulum can determine this acceleration. The only variables
