The antioxidant capacity of Bifurcaria bifurcata extracts from the Peniche coast was evaluated by the analysis of the total polyphenol content (TPC)‚ by the DPPH free radical scavenging activity and by Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC). The results are expressed in Table 1. The methanolic fraction was more potent than the dichloromethane fraction‚ with an EC50 of 58.82µg/mL (50.65 – 68.31)‚ which was very similar with the standards‚ ascorbic acid and BHT‚ that exhibited an EC50 of 22.43µg/mL

Unknown Solutions Possible Identification + Reason(s). (Document Created by: RED) Example Unknown ● (1) I believe this solution to be Copper(II)Hydroxide because of the following reasons: ○ It has a pH value of 12 and burning it produces a bluegreen color. ○ It produced bubbles when mixed with Zn‚ Al and Fe which are all more reactive than copper. ● (2) I believe this solution to be Sodium Sulfate because of the following reasons: ○ Blah blah blah

C. partellus gut protease and protease inhibitor activity assays. C. partellus gut protease activity was estimated using chromogenic substrate BApNA [Manasi A et al.‚ 2005]. It was dissolved in the DMSO and a final concentration was made to 1mM in 1.0ml‚ Glycine-NaOH buffer (pH 9)‚ assays were carried at 38°C for 30min [Manasi A et al.‚ 2005]. The reaction was terminated by adding of acetic acid (30%) of 200µl [8‚ 9‚ Manasi A et al.‚ 2005 ]. Supernatant (0.5ml) was added to 1M NaOH (0.5ml) and the

Conclusions At the end of Part A in this experiment‚ it can be determined that Sodium Chloride had the highest amount of conductivity tested by all groups. On the graph above‚ the data shows that NaCl (sodium chloride) held the highest amount of electrical conductivity for all groups and on the table it reads the highest numbers across its row. Also as seen in the data above‚ ethanol had the lowest amount of conductivity with sucrose‚ acetic acid‚ ammonia‚ and MgCl2 following in ascending order

6. Results and Discussion 6.1. Mix Design of Cold Recycled Bituminous Mixture Compaction characteristics of untreated bitumen mixes according to Modified Proctor Test is shown in Figure 6. When the RAP content increased‚ it resulted in reduction of MDD and the corresponding increase in OMC. The decreased MDD is obtained due to the weak bond between RAP and the virgin material and also due to less fine material that plugs the voids to produce denser mix. The corresponding increase in OMC is

Investigating the solubility of Group II hydroxides Jiyeon Kim Aim: To investigate the solubility of Group II hydroxides (Mg(OH)2‚ Ca(OH)2‚ Sr(OH)2‚ Ba(OH)2) Research Question: What is the trend of solubility of Group II hydroxides going down the group as determined through measuring the volume of hydroxides needed to titrate with a known concentration of hydrochloric acid? Background Information: Solubility is when a solute forms a homogeneous solution by dissolving in solvent. The solubility of any
