    In April 1898‚ conflict between the United States and Spain over the island country of Cuba resulted in the Spanish American War. As a result of the war‚ the victorious U.S. forced Spain to grant Cuba its independence and turn over control of the Philippines‚ Puerto Rico and Guam to the United States. Although many supported the United States involvement in the War‚America’s motivations were not pure and‚ therefore; I do not believe that U.S. was justified in its involvement in the War.
