The San Bernardino Symphony has been Inland Southern California’s longest running professional orchestra. It was originally founded by nationally recognized conductor James K. Guthrie in 1929‚ and has provided world-class symphonic music for audiences around the region for 87 years. On Saturday‚ May 28‚ 2016 they performed their season closing “Finale Bravura”‚ which featured Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Magic Flute Overture”‚ Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Rococo Variations”‚ David Popper’s “Hungarian

The main thing that pops out with this state of affairs is the main objective. The symphony is attempting to interpret what has caused a fixed degeneration in attendance. I’m not sure this exact survey on this evening at a free concert is the finest method to discover what the problem is. First off‚ this is not the symphony’s primary group of spectators; many of these people will not be attending another event‚ so their statistics shouldn’t be held so highly. Next‚ this group of attendees will not

I attended the EIU Wind Symphony concert on December 4‚ 2015. It started seven in the evening and was in Dvorak hall in the Doudna Fine Arts center on Eastern’s campus. Alicia Neal was the conductor of the symphony. It was a symphony composed of some of Eastern’s best music majors and it showed their skill throughout the entire performance. The symphony was composed of woodwinds‚ brass‚ and percussion. On the woodwinds‚ they had piccolos‚ flutes‚ oboes‚ bassoons‚ clarinet‚ bass clarinet‚ alto saxophone

The Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra and Fady Deeb Saturday‚ October 6‚ 2012 Lontano by György Ligeti This piece has an eerie and dissonant aura throughout the piece‚ without having much musical resolve in its sounds. The entire orchestra was included in this piece‚ except for the percussion section. These polyphonic sounds of this piece were played extensively‚ reflecting no noticeable tempo or rhythm‚ therefore creating ambiguous sounds. However‚ the dynamic range was wide enough to create

Beethoven’s use of Sonata form in his 1st Symphony Beethoven‚ in common with his predecessors Haydn and Mozart‚ uses the Sonata form in the first movement of his first symphony. This was Beethoven’s first attempt at the symphonic form having composed chamber music and two piano concertos. Beethoven made the sonata form more expressive through his use of dynamics and more extreme key relations. Beethoven started this piece with a slow introduction. It is not unknown

Set in D major with a duple meter‚ traditional ricerare-type alla breve fugue‚ with a step by step ascending and descending repeated note pattern‚ the movement has a Baroque like nature within its ornate‚ chant-like‚ modal‚ conjunct‚ harmonic and tonal characteristics. Strangely‚ “Gratias agimus tibi” does not document any sort of dynamic qualities; therefore‚ Bach has left the dynamics up to the performers to differentiate their parts in a way that reflects both the music and its text. Much of the

Spectacular at the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every event I have attended at the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. They seem to always do an excellent job. I come from a small town in eastern Iowa‚ so it is incredible to have such amazing resources to enjoy from such a short drive away. To see a symphony like this from my hometown‚ I would have to drive over an hour‚ and the symphony still would not be as high quality as the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. I think more

Success is a Journey Not a Destination Some people may believe that the destination is more important that the journey. A quote from Ben Sweetland “Success is a journey‚ not a destination” When on a journey the destination doesn’t matter because the journey will give you future success. When along a journey the destination does not matter but‚ the journey is what matters most because you the journey may affect one’s future greatly. Along the journey one will gain experience no one could gain without

Utah Symphony and Utah Opera: A Merger Proposal The Utah Symphony (USO) and the Utah Opera (UOC) Merger was a union that was brought forth by the leadership committee at the USO in Salt Lake City. The proposal was an opportunity to strengthen a struggling symphony with a financially sound opera company. Although mergers between opera and symphony companies in the United States had been successfully in the past‚ the merging of a two major companies had yet to materialize (Delong & Ager‚ 2005‚ p

At the onset of 33 Variations‚ it is evident that there are many parallels between the lives of both Beethoven and Katherine. The reasoning behind these parallels‚ however‚ is not revealed until Katherine delivers her final lecture. As Katherine begins her lecture‚ she starts by explaining the purpose of a hypothesis before then providing the audience with her own. “My hypothesis was that Beethoven wanted to use Diabelli’s waltz to show Vienna what a great masterwork he could create out of a grain
