Meaning of the Things They Carried Tim O’Brien is a veteran of the Vietnam War and he fought with the United States in that controversial war. Tim O’Brien was drafted into the Vietnam War in 1968. He served as an infantryman‚ and obtained the rank of sergeant and won a Purple Heart after being wounded by shrapnel. He was discharged from the Vietnam War in 1970. I believe that O’Brien’s own past experiences he encountered in the Vietnam War gave him inspiration to write “The Things They Carried.”

Why Should People Recycle? I am not a big “earth person” but I do believe in recycling because I think recycling is a good thing. In fact I think everyone should recycle to make the earth a better place as a whole. A few good reasons why recycling is a good thing‚ the more people recycle‚ the less room is filled in landfills. Also‚ when people recycle they are reusing materials‚ therefore saving resources. If everyone recycled‚ think of how much more space there would be in landfills

“Things fall apart‚ the center cannot hold. Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world” (Achebe). In his postcolonial tragedy‚ Things Fall Apart‚ Chinua Achebe writes about the collapse of the Ibo African tribal system due to the arrival of aggressive European missionaries. Achebe focuses on “both what was strong and what was weak in the African past” (Appiah). He traces back the roots of his people to the “moment when [they] lost [their] initiative to other people‚ to colonizers” (Appiah). Throughout

The things I carry are the guns I will never fire. I’ll never receive training from extremely attractive girl instructors on operating AK47s‚ M4s‚ and M16s. I’ll never drive a tank to rescue hostage soldiers from the battleground or ever lead a special mission in the Gaza strip. I’ll never be able to pilot a plane‚ and I’ll never experience the abominable disgust from eating frozen‚ stale corn three times a day. The things I carry are inevitably overwhelming questions. on. I find it bad that everyone makes fun of everyone. Either if it’s cyberbullying or just bullying‚ it’s a problem for a lot of students. In order to prevent bullying and all of this harassment‚ there’s so many things that I’d think can solve this problem. One of the first things that i think could be a solution for all of this would be talking to all of their parents‚ have a meeting about it‚ because most of their parents are also bullies. another country‚ and taking over politically as well as socially. In “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe‚ he depicts this perfectly. He shows how‚ when culture is taken away‚ some identity is lost. In Africa‚ the original god’s and traditions were changed‚ war broke out‚ and they could do nothing about it! 12. First of all‚ Achebe decided to write Things Fall Apart in English because of the sole fact that he wanted the American people to realize that they truly destroyed the Igbo culture and its people. The first part of the book is dedicated to the understanding of the Igbo culture and is slowly demolished by the colonization of the white people. Therefore‚ I agree with King’s comments. Like Bakhtin said‚ language is a very diverse thing. Each culture has their distinct language which is unique and
