    A memoir is a piece of writing that is written by a person explaining a certain period of time in their lives. It is a honest piece of writing‚ that will explain things in detail‚ not making you have to really try and figure out what the author is trying to say. Holden does none of these things. If Holden was a real person telling the story‚ it could not be considered a memoir. He continually lies throughout the book‚ and he does not tell the full story by leaving out how he is feeling.
