The Plate with King Hunting Rams is a brilliant piece of metallurgy from the Sassanid era of Persia‚ around 5-6th century CE. It was made from silver‚ mercury gilding and niello inlay in the Qazvin region in what is now Iran. The plate depicts an unknown Sassanid King (either Peroz or Kavad I) hunting down a group of rams. It shows the prowess and desired image of the king as well as the cultural divide and influence of the society at the time. Through its use of curvature‚ color‚ and shape‚ the

procedures were carried out over the course of this experiment: tube inoculation and plate inoculation. We started with plate preparation. Three different lysogeny broth‚ or LB‚ agar plates were prepared for E. coli growth every other week: a control where water was used‚ one for triclosan‚ and one for streptomycin. Using an inoculation loop‚ E. coli was transferred from the test tube to the agar plate. This was done to each plate twice‚ creating a grid-like pattern of bacteria growth. A small paper disk soaked

Plate Tectonics‚ Earthquakes‚ and Volcanoes Renee Kuraly 1. There are 13 tectonic plates. (several smaller ones) 2. Evidence for continental drift includes: coastline fit‚ alignment of mountain ranges‚ similar rock sequences‚ fossils‚ modern fauna‚ and ancient climates. 3. We know plate boundaries exist because their defined by earthquake data and the depths of earthquakes show what type of boundary they are. 4. Divergent Boundary- places where plates are moving apart. Convergent Boundary-

Guessing the Bounce Plate Affect Abstract The goal behind this experiment was to estimate the distance a ball would travel after it falls a certain distance and bounces off a metal plate which has an angle of 45 degrees. To find this we had to take the basic equations for kinematics which are (1/2)at2=x and v=v0+at and combine them to make an equation that will help us solve for the distance the ball will travel after hitting the bounce plate. The equation came out to be R=g*(sqrt(2)/sqrt(g))*(sqrt(H)*sqrt(h))

Witnessing the breathtaking phenomena created by marine microbes strengthened my determination to further pursue my study of marine microbiology. In my first year as an undergraduate student I participated in lab work on marine microbiology.
