Name: ******** Class: DME2 Title: Flow Measurement Date: 11/02/2013 Lecturer: Mr Higgins Summary: In this experiment many different meters were used to measure fluid flow rate; the orifice plate‚ the venture meter‚ the rota meter and the weigh tank. Each meter works by its ability to alter a certain physical property of the flowing fluid and then allows this alteration to be measured. The measured alterations are linked directly to the flow rate and these measurements are subbed in

Biodiesel production yields varied from 81.7 to 88.0 (wt%)‚ the lowest yields being the ones obtained using waste frying oil and lard alone as raw materials. The obtained products fulfilled most of the determined quality specifications according to European biodiesel quality standard EN 14214. Minimum purity (96.5 wt%) was closely obtained when waste frying oil was used alone and when 0.2% of lard was incorporated in the raw material (96.3 wt%); however‚ it ranged from 93.9 to 96.3 (wt%)

flow sensor the fuel consumption is determined continuously and via direct mass flow measurement in kg/h. The density does not have to be determined in addition to the direct determination of the gravimetric or specific fuel consumption like in volumetric measurement methods. The fuel consumption can thus be determined to an accuracy of 0.12% for the whole system under real test bed conditions. With the FlexFuel version‚ up to 100% alcohol and biodiesel can be measured. Case Study – JIT Failure at Sony Ericsson Once one of the world’s leading cell-phone manufacturers‚ Ericsson knows only too well how painful a disruption in the supply chain can be. It is a story that has become something of a legend in supplychain circles. In March 2000‚ a lightning bolt struck a Philips Electronics semiconductor plant in Albuquerque‚ N.M.‚ triggering a small fire in a chip-processing machine that took the plant offline for months. Although the plant was Ericsson’s sole supplier
