This phase usually manifests itself between the ages of three to six. • The period between the phallic stage and the genital stage is called latency, but Freud doesn’t consider Latency a psychosexual stage because there is no real attachment to sexuality and therefore no development. • The genital stage starts from adolescence. It focuses on the sexual maturity of the body and mind.
7. List the needs in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Briefly explain how they relate to each other.
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs are defined through a pyramid to illustrate that the individual moves up step-by-step fulfilling each necessity until they reach self-actualisation. It is important to keep in mind though that the order in which the needs are listed would probably differ depending on the individual and how environmental factors impact on them.
