10th Grade English Class Analysis
In my 10th grade English class I was mentored by one of my preparatory teachers named Mr. Zeljak. The overall premise of the criteria for students was to be prepared for the class and show dedication through our rigorous course work. In reference to the level of difficulty of the English class, there was little to no concern when completing assignments, however, the class was sanctioned in having students master the abilities of comprehension and literary analysis. Individuals within the class demonstrated respect and cooperation with other students when commencing in group activities which correlated to my success in the course. The fact that this is my first AP class makes me unaware of what the class will be like in terms of exertion, however, I am also willingly prepared for whatever obstacle that might challenge my current abilities. The reason I applied for this advanced placement class is to challenge my current expertise in literary analysis and comprehension. I would like to apply my newly learned skills to prepare for soon to be future college development. …show more content…

I would not consider myself bilingual, but I can thoroughly understand Spanish although I cannot speak it. This dilemma should not become a troublesome issue when attempting to read Spanish novels comprehensively. Normally, I idolize electronics that I find to have value or anything of mine that holds sentimental value as in, my Phone. Within my home, my family and I are suited with a technological environment, plentiful for my learning experience and research. My current aspirations and career goals are to invest my time in to becoming a successful engineer. My plan prior to receiving my high school diploma is to apply and be accepted to San Jose State University, and with the education I will receive from San Jose state, I will further pursue my objective to become an

Brandon's dad was glad he got to chat with you during Back to School Night again this year. We know Brandon has spoken with you a few times concerning his tests and quizzes. His dad and I are very concern with Brandon's latest quiz results and how his grade has been plummeting. We see his work, and see that he does fine, when it comes to understanding his AP Calculus homework. We also see him putting in numerous hours studying for the AP Calculus class tests and quizzes, but yet he is doing very poorly on them. We are surprised considering he maintained an A or A- in all his high school math courses, including Algebra 2 with you. We did not think he would do worse in AP Calculus.…

Throughout my childhood, my father had always traveled between Los Angeles, California and Uruapan Michoacán in Mexico. He would work for six months in California and then return to Mexico for the rest of the year without a need to work. Why would a father put his family through these challenges? Besides the obvious reason of our family needing finances, we later discovered that our dad, upon reaching his thirties, was going through some sort of midlife crisis. My 15 year old brother Joe joined a gang short after my dad left back to the United States. He became difficult and refused to listen to our mother. He would stroll the the streets all night and routinely come back home with items we suspect were stolen. My parents had always pondered upon and discussed the consequences of leaving us alone, without the guidance and support of both a mother and father. But because of our financial situation, my father needed to make the sacrifice. We all needed to sacrifice something.…

“All literature shows us power of emotion, it is emotion, not reason that motivates characters in literature.”This powerful quote was once said by Duff Brenna. Yes this quote is true. This quote means that author’s put life into the characters they create in literature. Characters that act on emotion, gets the reader gets emotionally attached to them and they just want to keep reading that book without putting it down. The Glass Menagerie written by Tennessee Williams and Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare help to prove this is true.…

For boys who have passed by or through the Middle School this week you will have noticed that the precinct was awash with the colour orange in the form of balloons and banners. The boys in Year 8 will, I hope, be able to tell you that this display of orange was to mark Harmony Day, an event organised by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship. It is aimed at celebrating our cultural diversity and promoting tolerance and respect for racial difference.…

After graduating from Boston College’s Lynch School of Education with a BA in Elementary Education, I had the opportunity to go back to my alma mater, Boston English High School. There, I taught for three years as a bilingual math teacher for students in grades 9-12. Those were three very good and exciting years of teaching and learning for me. During my years at Boston English High School, I taught Algebra, Geometry and Advanced Algebra. The composition of the students at the school was very diverse. I taught math classes in Spanish to Spanish native speakers, I also had other math classes taught in Sheltered English that were made up of students from Latin America, Europe, The Middle East and Africa. The multiculturalism that existed in…

    1. Mr. Vittorini and the other survivors of the earthquake do not feel that the fact that the scientists can not predict earthquakes is the reason science betrayed them. Vittorini says he feels betrayed because the scientists knew that they live in a earthquake area and did not inform the people of the town that the buildings are not structurally secure as well as the fact the the authorities told them it was fine to go back into their homes. A great section of the article includes Picuti and Vittorini’s accounts on the matter. “I’m not crazy,” Picuti says. “I know they can’t predict earthquakes. The basis of the charges is not that they didn’t predict the earthquake. As functionaries of the state, they had certain duties imposed by law: to evaluate and characterize the risks that were present in L’Aquila.” Part of that risk assessment, he says, should have included the density of the urban population and the known fragility of many ancient buildings in the city centre. “They were obligated to evaluate the degree of risk given all these factors,” he says, “and they did not.” “This isn’t a trial against science,” insists Vittorini, who is a civil party to the suit. But he says that a persistent message from authorities of “Be calm, don’t worry”, and a lack of specific advice, deprived him and others of an opportunity to make an informed decision about what to do on the night of the earthquake. “That’s why I feel betrayed by science,” he says. “Either they didn’t know certain things, which is a problem, or they didn’t know how to communicate what they did know, which is also a problem” (Macmillan 2011).…

Throughout the semester, the Year Eight class have studied figurative language, Shakespeare, persuasive and narrative writing, as well as reviewing the role punctuation plays in ensuring clarity in writing. Chloe is a very friendly and capable student who has consistently produced work of a solid Year Eight standard. She can sometime allow herself to be distracted in class, this means that she often runs out of time to effectively edit her work. As a result of this she sometimes misses punctuation and grammatical errors that could have easily been corrected. In order to improve, Chloe will need to re-evaluate her use of class time to ensure that she leaves herself enough time to carefully edit all tasks before she submits them. I wish her all the best for next year.…

The audience for writing project one final is for my instructor Heather Burford , for my ivy tech English 111 class . My peer response that I received was very helpful. I was told that I had some grammar mistakes. Also I had a suggestion to fix where I had one of my paragraphs. Also I was told that my writing was a little confusing English wise. But that what I hope to improve on in this class. I also had some good feedback saying that I had a good summery and understanding of the article. I tried fixing as much of my grammar mistakes as I could see and hear but like always I know this paper could be cleaned up better somehow. I just do not see myself what I could fix. Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, analyses the notion of humanity being simultaneously good and evil, and also of there being a complexity of varying layers of instinctive behaviours. Stevenson explores these concepts in his narrative technique, amongst the midst of the aristocracy and middle class Victorian values of respectability, morality and intolerant sexual restraint.…
