13 Ways Of Looking At Weather
I thought that the essay “13 Ways Of Looking At Weather” was really compelling in the way that it was so descriptive. Right off the bat, I could envision the terrors of a tornado and how hesitant she was to share the stories of the extreme weather in her hometown to other people. I loved the little analogy she put in there about the Wizard Of Oz, where she was comparing the harsh and fatal realities of the tornadoes she had experiences to the harmless and magical effects the tornado had on Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. I was also interested by the way the author split the essay into thirteen sections, each containing another thought or subject or story about the authors life. I love how she would describe events happening so quickly after one another, it really helped me visualized a series of events happening …show more content…
I would heavily consider splitting up my lyric essay into different sections like the author did here because it really kept me attention and this layout kept me hooked and interested in what the author was saying the entire time. The author included confessions and weather theories throughout her story, which helped give insight into the author’s character and personality as the essay, went on. She also gave us details on her family history and how her parents reacted to such travesties when these natural disasters would affect her community. These details made the essay relatable in the way that I know my parents would do the same things when trying to protect their kids from situations like natural disasters. I thought “13 Ways Of Looking At Weather” was a fun and interesting read and it was able to keep my attention throughout the entire duration of reading it. I really liked it.
