One way Orwell proves that people are not always how they seem and can not always be completely trusted is the characters he picks in the book. Mr.Charrington is a good example of this. He started off as just a simple shop owner but as the reader dives more deeper in the book you later find out that Mr.Charrington works in the government. This quote shows how many people trust each other in America which reminds me of 1984. The USA Today states “these days, only one-third of Americans say most people can be trusted.” This gave me insight that Orwell's warning is doing good. That most Americans don't trust everybody and are cautious before they trust people. This made me think about trust and what it takes for people to truly trust someone. Trust is one of the main topics in 1984 and is still current in our world today.
In conclusion the warning in 1984 about trust has already impacted my life. One thing that I am still wondering is how do you know if someone is trustworthy. I am also still questioning how could Winston trust people so fast without second guessing it. It seems a little impossible to trust someone that fast. This will change the amount of people I trust and the kind of people I trust. The book has made me think deeper about the trustworthiness of people. This is why I have enjoyed reading 1984, it has challenged me to think
