2.2 Demonstrate the ability to reflect on practice.
Not all learning will take place such as NVQ’s, training sessions or in-house training a very large amount of training is what we call ‘hands on’ training while you are working. Every day that you are on shift you will be from important to a simple task such as making a sandwich or making a cup of tea. This type of skills learning will be from your supervisor and colleague’s knowledge/skills which will be handed down.
It is also very important to talk to work colleague’s when things have gone well but it is also very important to discuss issues when things gone wrong. Discussing issues that may have gone wrong will enable staff to become more proactive in rectifying such issues with minimizing such events happening again. All staff would need to recognizes what we value and how are own beliefs can change within our own working practices. Working within the social care setting most supervision will take place at scheduled times but there may be times when you as a support worker may request a supervision to ask questions or just to discuss situations, problems you may have come across or just to put across an idea.

We all have our own set of values, beliefs and preferences. Within our personal lives, we can choose to create relationships and choose the people to whom we have the same common interests this is a natural progression.

    Professional development I feel is beneficial for both tutor and student. The process of reflecting on your own practices and having the discipline to be constructive about the actions you take to evaluate your own performance will determine the impact it has in the classroom and the teaching and learning experience. Overall this process has encouraged me to reflect on most of my practices which has helped me to understand my role as a teacher. This development has systematically reinforced the actual reason of why we as teachers perform the way we do. This has given me a boost in confidence because I now have a reason behind meaning. I use my own judgment to determine how well a particular teaching experience had benefitted my learners and whether things went good or bad. From this basic analysis I can adapt and enhance particular parts of a session to create and aim for a better learning experience.
