Hello, my name is Mary Wilson better known as Jean Wilson. I am 31 years young and I major in Mass Communication Media Production. My hometown is Madison and I really love living there because its quite and peaceful. Well... at least the part I live in is! I've always dreamed that someday I would own my own business, and that dream has come true. The name of my business is Wilson Photography . I feel really overloaded sometimes about owning my own business, but, HEY... that's the life of a business owner... Some of the things outside of running my business I enjoy are desigining flyer's, invitations, business cards, obituaries, etc... There are so... many thing that I've tried in my life, but I can truely say photography has stolen my heart. I've done some really interested things in my life, but don't care to mention them. My family consist of my mother, my husband, my two boys, and my daughter. If I could change just one thing about myself, I would've finished my degree when I first attended Jackson State University in 2000, but I found myself getting sucked into the college life... But, anyways... What matters most is I still have time to complete my degree. The one thing I would like to be remembered for, is showing my children that whatever they put their minds to they can do it. As far as future plans for me goes, I hope to be a successfully business owner that travels the world.
Now I choose Mass Communication because, I'm ready to began that new that chapter in my life. Mass Communication will allow me to advertise my business more efficiently. As well as learn how to record footage for different events and properly edit that footage. Not to mention the different amount of important people in my very own city as well as world wide, I could possibly meet... I maybe a bit of a big thinker but the sky is the limit. So as far as me choosing to re-enroll in Jackson State University at the age of 31 wasn't and isn't a mistake. Until next time folks...

Why I made the choice to return to college and complete my degree in Business System Administration is unique. I have thought about this for years and it’s a personal goal I want to accomplish. I have a great job in the military teaching new soldiers which is something I love and enjoy. I am ten years away from retiring and looking forward to life after the military. Why would a person that is in the middle of their career want to return to school? The answer to this question is that it’s a personal goal I’ve had for years to obtain a college degree. I have started and stopped several times due to my deployments and family commitments. I have tried on different occasions to start back but the military makes it almost impossible to plan ahead and commit to anything long term.…

I recently found a list of goals that I had written 20 years ago. Most of the goals were realistic and I was able to achieve them. While I was checking the items off my list that I accomplished, there was one that I have debated about for many years—returning to school to earn a degree. Returning to school has always been achievable; however, as each year of my life sped by and I got older, I always came up with more and more excuses as to why I should not return to school. One day I received a course catalog in the mail showing online classes at the college. I decide that an online class would be the first step to my future. I am so grateful for the first day of that class. All the excuses and delays regarding returning to school were in vain. It is amazing the different prospective I know have about being a child verses an adult in school.…

    LIfe Goals

I left college for a year to come back home and work. At the time that I left school I didn’t think that it was for me. I was working my butt off at school every day with no reward. At times I felt as if it was all for nothing. I didn’t have a job, I needed money and I stayed stressed out and bogged down with all different types of coursework. I just felt that my talents and effort could be put to better use elsewhere. I felt that if I dropped out and became employed full time that that situation would better suit me. However, after having had taken the working man’s route and still barely making ends meet I feel like I made an irrational decision by leaving college. I also found out that a college graduate has the potential to make up to a million more dollars in their lifetime as opposed to those with only a high school diploma. That tiny bit of information was enough to change my mind and lead me towards wanting to get back into school. I made a hasty decision in leaving school in the first place. I was more concerned about my current living situation instead of being focused on long term goals and how successful I wanted to be later on in life. I guess I can say that I had a little growing up to do. Now I can confidently say that I’m more focused than I’ve ever been in my entire life and that nothing will hinder me from becoming successful.…

After high school I attempted to pursue more of an education at Miller Hawkins Business College. I was only able to finish nine months of this college due to my husband re-enlisting in the United States Navy. At that time I was six months pregnant with my first child. With this move I withdraw from college and move with my husband to Pensacola, Florida. I did not continue my education; instead I started our family and put my education on hold. After 17 years of marriage and 3 children my marriage failed and all I had was my work experience and had lived secured by the military life. At this point I decided that I truly would like to finish what I had started over 20 years ago and get my degree in accounting. I believed that it was time to do something for myself and to fulfill some of my goals that I had started years ago.…

    What Turned My life Around

There are many memories that have happened in my life that are important to me. It is very hard to select one that has really changed or impacted my life as an individual. Considering I am just about half way through my illustrious life building a bank of historical memories that I would like to recall and some that I would like to erase for good. As I look back, I think the one event that really turned my life around was joining the Navy, 20 years later and I must say it was a decision well made. As I graduated high school my thought process was to be the first person in my family to go to college. Here I am an 18 year old boy from Queens, New York having to travel more than an hour to college, taking two buses and a train. Now this does not sit well with someone when it is in the middle of winter and you feel like the city is just eating you up. It was at that point where I figured college life was not for me. Transitioning from a place where I knew plenty of people to an environment that was completely made of strangers also contributed to my decision on leaving college. Now here I am attending college, it feels like things have come full circle; I am now laying the foundation for my children setting the example that I did not have while I was growing up. As for my future, I am looking forward to gaining more experience through more watershed moments and hopefully I have the awareness to enjoy the transition from the ending to the new beginnings. Situation Analysis…
