It is a sad fact that while we are here debating about abortion, there are millions of women out there undergoing surgery to stop their pregnancy. Furthermore, it is also a terrible fact that these practices –by which many skilled professionals and unskilled people broadly benefit from economically - are carried out in such undermining conditions that these women’s own lives are put in danger. While many physicians claim that the vast majority of abortions are carried out without physical complications, further risks are taken when these procedures are performed illegally. Let’s consider the physical risks of an illegal abortion.
1) Uterus(womb) perforation: breaking the uterus when you're trying to evacuate its contents.
2) Bleeding after the abortion
3) Sepsis: an infection in part of the body, in which pus is produced (accompanied by fever)
Since the human body reacts differently from one another, let’s consider now the case of a 13-year-old girl who in a rage of desperation (her parent’s didn’t even know that she was dating a boy) decided to undergo a clandéstine abortion resulting in Sepsis lung secondary problems, generalized infection of the body renal deficiency thrombosis in legs amputation.
All these traumatic situations could have been avoided had this misguided girl, who is just an example of millions of others, been treated in a public hospital, with the proper anti septic facilities and tools. Of course, it would have been better to prevent (to educate her) than to cure, but that’d be a theme for another debate.
