Society only confers legitimacy on only those who believe are acting in protocol ways. Law enforcement can’t build the public’s trust if its seen as a constant force coming in from outside to impose control on the community. This pillar in particular seeks to provide focus on building these relations between police and the community. Police culture should embrace protecting people other than tying to be a warrior. They should have a mindset to increase trust and legitimacy both within agencies and with the community. Technology is needed for everything in society today. Pillar three focuses on technology and social media in the police force. The use of technology can improve police practices and build trust within the community. Its decision in new technologies can give certain police agencies a broad opportunity to interact and educate their community in conference about what they expect for clarity, responsibility, and seclusion. Technology and social media change each and every day the only problem with police and law enforcement using technology is them keeping up with the new things while trying to protect and serve. In order to have a solid foundation it has to be built.
