June 10, 2015 - ENTRY 1: Me, a Writer? Attitude: Writing has never been my thing, at least when it comes to essays and research papers. It can take me awhile to get my ideas flowing. I’m very excited to complete this course so I can become a better writer. Although I often don’t like writing research papers or essays, I don’t feel that any personal feelings towards writing will have any negative effects on my quality of work. I’m looking forward to what this course has to teach me. Inventory: I am an independent learner, so this course is perfect for my learning style. I’m also a spatial learner which means I take in information by studying graphics. One way I would like to improve as a writer is to become more of a concrete learner which can help me when I write research papers. The second way is to expand my vocabulary and spelling without using spell check. I still struggle pronouncing words I never heard before.
June 14, 2015 – ENTRY 2: The Role of Correctness in Writing Errors in grammar, spelling and punctuation effect the relationship between the writer and reader of an essay in many ways. Punctuation and grammar can change the meaning of the essay and confuse the reader. The reader can read it as one interruption when the writer meant it as another. Also the reader will eventually question the writer’s creditability. Incorrect grammar, spelling and punctuation will have the readers wondering if the writer’s information is correct or believable. It will also make the writer sound below their writing level than what they really are. My greatest weakness as a writer is that I suffer from writer’s block. It can take me awhile to find the motivation to gather my ideas and find that one idea that fits the essay well. I have so many ideas and I begin to write them down. I am unable to continue through most of them and end up dismissing the ideas until I find one suitable. My greatest
