a) What is reflective practice? Reflective practice means thinking about and evaluating what you do and discussing any changes which could be made. This means focusing on how we interact with colleagues, service users and the environment. It means thinking about how we could have done something differently, what we did well, what we could have done better.
b) Why is reflective practice important? As part of our job role it is important to carry out reflective practice especially because we work with young Adults and our effectiveness will have an impact on them and their learning.
c) How reflective practice contributes to improving the quality of service provision.
Reflective practice helps to keep a check on personal emotions and gut instinct, and reinforces the importance of better quality of service.
d) How standards can be used to help a social care worker reflect on their practice.
Standards help social care workers so they work in the same level as other social care workers or even their peers, it helps standardised the service they are giving to the community. By having a standard, they can always reflect with it and achieve the same standardised level.
