3rd World Country
Unlike a film, we only get one take in life

Our time on earth varies is a variable, there's no guarantee as to what number of year we might inhabit this earth. Those of us fortunate enough to be born in a rich country such as Australia are expected to outlive those who are born and live in a 3rd world country. Unfortunately those who live in 3rd world countries don't have access to the medical facilities, public services and general hygiene that we are privileged to have in our own country. While our life expectancies may vary depending on what country we live out our lives one thing is certain, death. Some of us are very lucky and get to live a long life, others are taken before their time.

Leah, a young girl in my sister Alicia's year level died today, she was my sister's friend and was taken from this earth after a long battle with cancer. She doesn't get another chance, their is no second take. While her life was short, she had a big impact on many people's lives and will be sorely missed by many, including my younger sister. In this life we live no action we perform

Many people see the films and either they do or don't enjoy them. They might talk about them for a while after and watch them repeated times but little thought is ever given to the making of the film. Millions of dollars can be put into the making of a film and it takes a team of many people sometimes in excess of multiple years to create a movie. These films are a result of many scenes put together to create one piece. Each of these scenes are tediously thought out and every little detail is intentional. Many takes are filmed for every scene until it is just to the director's liking. Numerous DVDs come with extended takes, deleted scenes and bloopers all of which feature takes and scenes which did not make the cut.The end result of the countless takes is a film just as the director wished it to

November 3, 2013, is the day; a humble, stubborn, driven, strong and one of the bravest women I could ever meet, passed. Her name was Dorothy F. Hinote. During her life she lost two of her children, she went to beauty school and started her own business, she was placed in a nursing home where she was diagnosed with dementia, and she also faced cancer twice. These are only a few of the obstacles she faced. Some of them are good and some are bad. She could surpass all of these except for one. Dorothy showed great strength throughout her life, she showed how you can do whatever you want as long as you put your mind to it. Her advice will live through me for as long as I live.…

RIP Chloe Henry. I didn't really know her that much. We used to go to school together and even though we were both really young I remember your kindnes. All I hear people say about you is how much you cared about everyone and how nice and sweet you were. It's not fair to anyone to have to go through what happened to you. And it's not fair for any parents to have their child pass away. It's not fair how young you were and how many things you never had a chance to do. When I found out about this it made me feel absolutely terrible and I still do whenever I think about this injustice. We all love you and pray for you. You did nothing to deserve this. It makes me so fucking pissed off this happened I don’t understand how this coud be done. We all…

That little girl was me, Olexis Haymon. On that day my best friend, my sister, my confidant was diagnosed with cancer. No one knows how much pain this disease can cause until they experience it. My sister was only twenty years old and had to fight for her life for two years. Although I was only eleven, I had to act as an adult. I had to give my sister a bath, change her diaper, feed her, clean her port, and the worst part was to hold her as she cried. I had to miss numerous days of school to care for her as my parents worked to keep food on our table and lights on in our home. I prayed for her to recover, but two years later God…

"Before death I hope to obtain life." This quote reminds me of my Michigan Hero Danielle Nash. Danielle was my cousin who was diagnosed with stage four Melanoma and Brain Cancer at age 26. Before cancer, she opened her own Day Care/ Preschool in Whitehall called Bright Futures, she was only 21. She also started the first Middle School Competitive Cheerleading Team in Reeths Puffer and was also the head coach of the Varsity Reeths Puffer Competitive Cheerleading team. She lived in the Whitehall area her whole life, and had a husband named Jake and two kids, Brady who is now four and Addisyn who is two. Danielle did so much for her community, and impacted my life and so many others, and even though she isn't with us anymore she is still my Michigan…

My grandfather passed away and it sent my family and i into a turmoil. It was so sudden and fast we knew we had to prepare for our future without him. That day was the first day ever that my whole family and I sat in silence. No conversations, No cracking jokes or laughter, just silence. It was a day of sadness, but as the strong family we are, we lifted each other up and we accepted it and we made a promise to each other that we would never leave each other's sides. That day made me realize how much our family is united and this day put our strength to the test and we didn't let it break us. It actually brought us even…

Nothing reveals the true meaning of life until it is taken away. Death being the hardest, most tragic and life spiralling event, it can leave many people lost. For me it was exactly that, when I heard the tragic news of the death of my role model, my best friend, my only brother, it tore me apart. The death of my brother allowed me to put everything in perspective. Opening my eyes to the real world, to see beyond what is just happening right in front of me. With my freshman year of high school just starting with enough to deal with, this topped it all. I was lost. No time to say a simple “goodbye”.…

I never thought me, of all people, would experience such a sorrowful day. I have tried to forget it time and time again; but the reality is I will always remember every miniscule detail, moment, word, and facial expression on that particular day. My heart managed to shatter into a million pieces, leaving me without a reason to pursue my existence. My salty tears freely rolled down my warm cheeks, causing my eyes to burn sensationally. I remember mourning on the comforting shoulders of my family members, as they too were consumed by their feelings. The most valuable lesson that beared a reservation in my spirit was to cherish every moment and loved one, for tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone. I wish I could have fathom this reality before the climactic tragedy struck me like a ton of bricks. Although death is normal, it seemed almost foreign when it abducted the life of my favorite uncle.…

There are so many differences between film and popular cinema. When working with film, there are many specific types of shots that could be used. The first type are the types of shots that includes full, medium, close-up, extreme close-up, long, flashbacks, pan, traveling, and cross cutting shots. These kinds of shots can be used on many different types of objects, things, places, people, etc. The shots are then put in a specific order to actually piece the film together during the process of editing. By using different varieties of shots that are taken and then switched back and forth between them and shots, the film is then created. Remember that many audiences do not want just a film but a story with non-fictional and fictional characters that has a plot that the audience can relate to and something in reality to. This is how popular cinema was created. Editing the film for a movie that was still is based on what movie critics consider acceptable. After this process the scenes get reviewed and then are determined whether or not they are acceptable to be on a film or to be removed to keep the movie short so the audience doesn’t get bored. This is known to be popular cinema. The film is then reviewed by the directors and the movie critics before the final product is produced and released to be viewed by the public. Criticism is by the public and is the part of becoming a popular cinema and that is produced into a mass variety of different genres. Another difference is that film is usually made by using real life realities/events and usually connected by the general public, in which popular cinema is the version to create a visual story for the public and it is easy to understand. Not all audiences want to understand what is actually going on in the film at first for either. Some audiences will relate to the film that keeps them in suspense and some will relate to a film that makes them relate to…

Dependency theory is defined as a theory that attributed Third World underdevelopment to its economic and political dependence on the advanced industrial nations, also known as the core or First World Nations (Handelman, p.19). Moreover, Theotonio Dos Santos (1971) describes dependency as a “historical condition which shapes a certain structure of the world economy such that it favors some countries to the detriment of others and limits the development possibilities of the subordinate economies.” (p.226).…

When my neighbor, best friend, and practically brother died, I was devastated and was the single most difficult experience of my life. From this tragic day I had learned a lesson that cannot be learned any other way. After Spencer Moore had died only a few short years ago I had been taught a lesson that I will be able to see him again. After he had died I knew the only person I could to turn to is our Savior Jesus Christ. He is the only person that knows exactly how I feel in that tragic moment. I knew that because Jesus Christ had suffered our sins in Gethsemane in order to break the bands of spiritual death but more importantly for me at that moment physical death, I could see him again. I had learned that because of that because our Redeemer…

For many people in the world art is made up of two different categories, paintings and sculptures. But, there are some forms that are almost never thought of as art. The forms that are being discussed are videos and movies. Films and videos, much like other forms of art, are made to provoke an emotion from the viewer whether it be positive and negative. The fact that they last longer and have a ton of movement is what makes films so enticing to its viewers. Another detail that makes movies so interesting is the amount of work that must go into every movie. On average, it takes a little more than a year to make a film and every film is on average less than 2 hours long. But, let’s say you are making a documentary about an artist vital to modern…

In less than twenty-four hours my aunt passed away, followed by a dear friend. More recently, my great uncle died. He was like a father to many of us who, at one time in our lives, were fatherless. I have attended more funeral this year than any one person should have to. Each and every day someone wakes up to an empty spot on the bed beside them, or an empty house, or even without a parent or role model. My family has had to show great bravery in basically a long string of what seems like bad luck. Some of the deaths were from old age, some were from illness, and one was done intentionally before his time should have been up. I believe that if he had someone to teach him about God's love and how when everything seems to be going wrong one can turn to him, that I would still have an eighteen year old cousin, who loved life and what it has to offer. If he had shown true bravery he would still be here today. He showed fear by taking his own life and not trusting God to make a way. It would have helped if he hadn't been raised in a home where there was no God. His mother doesn't believe in Him. Even still, I believe that showing bravery by continuing with life and its hardships takes work. Adversity and bad luck seem to follow some around like a rain cloud. But with God's love and power, He can grant us an understanding to deal with the things that seem like too much to…

When it was the brink of my grandfather's death, nearly everyone was expecting it to happen. He was laid down looking so fragile, like he could break any minute. It was heartbreaking seeing him like that. He was feeling pain everyday and we couldn't do anything about it. About two days before his death, everyone went to say their possible last goodbyes. At this time I went to shed a few handful of tears in my empty, frigid, starless room. Prayers filled the…
