410 B. E. Horoscopic Astrology

The word astrology, whose etymology is traced to the Greek words astro, meaning those that relate to stars, celestial objects or outer space, and logy, meaning reason (variant of Logos), is defined by the Oxford English dictionary as ‘the supposed art of foretelling or counselling in human affairs by interpretation of the motions of the planets and stars; star divination, astromancy’. Astrology is a form of Western Esotericism; it operates on a specialized knowledge spread through limited circle of people in the form of myths.
The most prominent form of astrology was horoscopic astrology, which is performed with a chart created of a moment of time and space (planetary positions). Historically the planet’s connections to gods, goddesses or divinities during a moment in time helped to ‘pick favorable times to take actions and to answer questions about the future’. Natal charts, also called horoscopes, are created at the moment of birth of an individual can convey information about their life and destiny and were used to predict life expectancy of newly birth babies. The earliest documentation of horoscopic astrology dates back to 410 B.C.E.
It was no longer only about ‘mundane questions about career, health and relationships’. Under the influence of astrologer’s Dane Rudhyar and Marc Edmund Jones ‘astrologer began to pick up on the swirling intellectual currents of the time and recast its symbolism into the language of depth psychology’( Freud’s psychoanalysis). This was further developed by C.G. Jung, whose psychology claims that planets and other cosmic factors are now archetypes, and that horoscopes are not only ‘a snapshot of the of heavens at the exact moment of birth’, but also ‘a diagrammatic cross-section of one’s inner
