The Old Desk Drawer
The first room in my house, when I walk into the front door, is the family room. In the center of the family room, there is an old wooden desk. It was once a shiny white, but the value has decreased over the years. The once shiny new white paint has begun to increasingly fade. There is an old gum collection on the right side. The stickers, I stuck on as a child, have either faded, been torn off, or had others stuck over them. The drawers have become harder to open, and the gold handle paint is starting to peel off. The drawer on the top right is the hardest one to open. The only sure way I am able to get into this drawer is by pulling the handle extremely slow. I mean so slowly a turtle could climb to the top of Mount Everest before I finished pulling it open. As it often gets stuck, I cannot just yank it open. I have to gently pull the handle at a slow pace, even then I can only open it two-thirds of the way. As I pull the handle, I am immediately greeted with an obnoxious scraping noise. Once I have succeeded in opening the drawer, I am instantaneously hit with a strong citrus scent. This is complementary of William, my seven year old brother, who insists on throwing potpourri in there. If I want to find anything in this desk, you are going to have to dig through mounds of potpourri. I rarely ever get into this drawer, as I am almost never up for the challenge. The only real reason I look in here is for the abundant stack of lined notebook paper, on the bottom of the drawer. On top of the stack of paper, are an abundance of brightly colored pencils scattered around. The pencils and paper seem to work together to make an office sandwich, of some sort. They hold together the endless amount of stickers accumulated over the years, the never ending paper clips, random stray staples, and the odd grocery store receipt. I always tell people that I plan on cleaning this drawer

The kitchen is decorated with polished wooden cabinets and a squeaky clean stove that shows your reflection when staring down upon it. There is also a fridge in the back of the kitchen and the trash bin resides next to the fridge. Touring the rest of the apartment there is my bedroom, my sister’s room and the master bedroom. My room suits all my needs; whether it be sleeping, eating, studying, or relaxing. My getaway place is my room. There are two twin beds in my room, and a closet full of shoes and clothes. A 50 inch television sits on top of the only black sleek dresser in the room. My room is usually where I invite all my friends over and throw parties. In my sister’s room there is a formal setup, just a simple king sized bed and a beige headstand where she keeps her television. In the hallway there is a treadmill where users can burn off calories and improve cardio. There are two bathrooms in the apartment, inside them are white walls and brown tiles in the tub. Also a mirror is above the sink to make sure people arrange themselves properly before exiting. The master bedroom hosts a bathroom, closet, and a desktop on top of a glass computer…

It’s the table, where you sat with your parents, cracking algebraic code and discussing theology. It’s the pillow that soaked-up tears from broken friendships and silenced 3AM laughter. With my family in front, I stepped onto the tile entryway without taking off my shoes. My soles echoed subtly and strangely in the cavernous, open concept and my soul slowly deflated into the empty space. Sundry clutter was pushed into a corner, backed by boxes holding household items that I wouldn’t miss until they are at the back of the one-car garage and crying to be of assistance. Cautiously, I gave myself a brief tour of the place that I once was able to walk through with my eyes closed, albeit with a couple trips here and there. Though there wasn’t much to trip over there’s still a good deal to cleaned before we could officially call this our old place. I slide open my closet door to find not clothes, but bags and crates and more boxes. Defeated at the sight of so much to still pack, as well as tired, I retreated to where my bed once stood. I began to rebuild my personal space again, and soon I was leaning on my headboard with a warm comforter as a cushion, taking a glance out my window instead of taking a catnap on the cold hardwood floor. The sheer curtains rippled in the cool summer evening breeze, brushing against my skin like a kind ghost and I realized that the real ghost was me. The curtains still hung in the room as the last trace of my presence, but they did not move as I hoped. I had no time to spend in the past, and so I dolefully pull myself out from the spiritual afterlife. I begin to do my duties as to not drag out the…

When you walk into my room, on the left wall there is a white dresser that has 6 rectangular drawers, and above that is a crummy and dirty mirror (its old). On the dresser, there will be a tall Big Bird Funko Pop, and there are most likely to be fancy earrings on top of it. Next to that will be a small stack of designed notebooks and a variety of books with a bigger Cannon camera. Depending on the day there will be a tall and slim water bottle or a stout, white defuser and an essential oil next to it. Following the dresser, still on the left wall, is a worn out TV tray. On that, there is a Harley Quinn Funko Pop, an empty box of tissues, my gross iPad charger, along with my iPad, and my phone charger. A little above the TV tray is a large…

    Van Gogh's Bedroom

The piece is a small bedroom with doors in the middle of the left and right walls and a bay window on the wall directly in front of the viewer. These three walls are the only ones visible; one will see the room as if they were standing against the fourth wall. The walls are pale sea foam blue with the doors a contrasting darker smoky teal. The floor seems to be one piece with the slightest outline of hunter green to identify planks or tiles in the front right hand corner of the piece. The color of this floor is that of an old penny, a faded red with hints of orange with notes of deep sienna. The left wall bears a chair in front of the left door; this chair is a dark yellow kitchen chair with a darker mint green seat. Also hanging on the wall is a black non-descript hook containing a dark mint green towel. This towel bears a dark red trim creating a green margin on the end of this towel. Caddy corner to the left wall and the wall directly in front of the viewer is an orange washstand; this washstand holds a light blue decanter possibly made from class, this decanter is accompanied by a matching drinking glass. A wash basin and pitcher also accompany the decanter; the pair matches the smoky blue of the doors. A light brown, possibly pine toiletry box rests on top of the wash basin. On the far left of the wall…

Eventually, we came upon a very large store, that was in essence, a mountain town’s Walmart. I don’t remember what it was called now, but it was massive, slightly eclectic, and was chock full of humorous knick-knacks. The store had that old-fashioned-general-store-with-everything-under-the-sun type charm that only older buildings with hardwood floors and older themed goods have. The store was a wonderful place to find. It had all sorts of things that I found great use for, come Christmas time. The main floor was clothes. Clothes for men, women, teens, children, and even for the pets. They had something for everyone. The upstairs floor, was camping gear. From bug spray, to sleeping bags, or roasting sticks, to hammocks, this store had it all. The best is yet to come, for the downstairs portion of the store, was better, or at least more appealing than anything else above. I’ll start with the more mundane parts of it first. In the back, there was uncountable amounts of cooking we, in every color under the sun. There was three sets of shelves, if not more, of Willow Tree art work, most of which I had never seen the like before. There was also a massive section dedicated to children’s toys. I found all sorts of interesting things there, many of which were Dr. Seuss themed, none of which I got. The best out of all this, was the very front part of this basement full of intriguing things; the candy section. It was…

Our summer vacation cabin had wooden front steps and two narrow glass doors that opened inward. The living room was large and contained a small television that sat on a glass stand. In front of the television was a couch and lounge chair that didn’t match. They smelled of old perfume and dust. Pictures of seagulls and lighthouses hung firmly against the walls. Credenzas were filled with decretive plates, and trinkets. Large windows filled the sunroom, and kitchen with spectacular views, as well as the bedroom. As I explored the property, I gazed through the windows of the garage. It appeared to be under construction for some sort of room conversion. Carpet had been laid, and a water heater was installed.…

My desk is littered with nickels, dimes, and pennies that I have tossed on it. There are clothes all over my desk; some folded others rolled up in balls that have been sitting there for days. The top of the desk is covered in filthy black hats with faded red CW logos on it. Dodge Viper, Corvette, and Porsche 911 model’s stretch across one of the shelves. Next to these are Nomar Garciapara, Ryan Gomes, and Jerry Rice, whose heads seem like they never stay still. Two small speakers continuously play music from my ipod sit next to the small Porsche.…
